"Clemson is on a six-game ACC road winning streak, which is the longest road league winning streak in 38 years (previously five games 1986-87)."
Asterix: In 1986-87, the ACC schedule was 14 games, 7 road games. Currently the ACC is playing 20-game seasons, providing 10 road games.
But with 7 road games you had 3 opportunities to win 5-in-a-row...you could win games 1-5, games 2-6, or games 3-7. You had 2 opportunities to win 6-in-a-row (1-6 or 2-7), and only one way to win 7-in-a-row (go undefeated on the road).
With 10 games, you have more opportunities to win longer streaks. You have 6 opportunities to win 5-in-a-row by winning games 1-5, 2-6, 3-7, 4-8, 5-9, or 6-10. You have 5 opportunities to win 6-in-a row, 1-6, 2-7, 3-8, 4-9, 5-10. You have 4 opportunities to win 7-in-a-row (1-7, 2-8, 3-9, 4-10). You have 3 opportunities to win 8-in-a-row (which was impossible with 7 road games) (1-8, 2-9, 3-10). You have 2 opportunities to win 9-in-a-row (which was impossible with 7 road games) (1-9, 2-10). And of course, one opportunity to win 10-in-a-row (go undefeated on the road).
Note that we've done the "win games 3-8" for the current 6-game streak looking to do the "win games 3-9" (7-game streak) and "win games 3-10" for the (8-game streak), and ending 9-1 on the road. Also, hopefully will end the year 9-1 at home too.
