Clemson receiver out for Pittsburgh game with COVID

Clemson receiver Joseph Ngata has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be out for Saturday's matchup with Pittsburgh, TigerNet has confirmed. This is a tough blow for Clemson as Ngata was coming on strong of late. For the season, Ngata has 18 receptions for 352 yards and a touchdown. Read Update »

Agree, DJ seemed comfortable going to Collins last week.

Maybe Stellato breaks out in the slot and JR moves back outside. ??

Praying for Ngata it's just a positive test.

The vaccine, without a booster, is only about 75% effective against transmission of the Delta variant. It's better at preventing severe symptoms.

Because it doesn't prevent you from testing positive, its only prevents the severity of it (so they say), just like a flu shot. Its just getting aggravating, the vast majority just have mild to no symptoms, but it seems like a never ending saga of this mess.

In fact there is some data now that’s emerging where there’s far more issues with heart conditions and other problems from the vaccine than Covid for kids under 25.

Less than 600 people under the age of 18 have died from Covid. Less than 1500 under the age of 25 have died. The seasonal flu kills thousands of kids under the age 25. This is more BS!

Re: TNET: Clemson receiver out for Pittsburgh game with COVID

Oct 22, 2021, 3:37 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Clemson receiver out for Pittsburgh game with COVID ]

Its also my opinion that if everyone just agreed with me then we'd have nothing to argue about...

So lets start with this one: NO ONE should EVER be forced to undergo a medical treatment whatsoever.

And on the 'safety' of the particular medical treatment in question... how many drugs and vax's have been subjected to greater battery of tests over a longer period of time just to later be found unsafe and pulled or undergone significant reformulation? If this vax is so safe, then why do the producers need a release of liability against adverse reaction? (**)

I have been vax'd (Moderna, 2x, in March-April), and in June I was just minutes from having my chest split open for emergency open heart surgery. Luckily my heart catheter came back clean (arteries and heart are "immaculate," to quote my cardiologist; yes, I apparently have a cardiologist now). I was later diagnosed with acute pericarditis. This is now something I will have to monitor the rest of my life. Apparently if you have it once, the odds are very good you will have more attacks in the future. The cause of this pericarditis? Inconclusive; but it is apparently a common side effect of the Moderna vax (actually, its recorded as the more serious myocarditis but I suspect to two conditions are being conflated). When we tired to report the condition directly to the CDC, CDC would not record as a vax reaction because it did not happen immediately after the vax.

Despite ALL of this, I would probably go ahead with the vax if I had it to do over again, and I still "recommend" most get vax'd as well... but I would NEVER force anyone, nor would I LIE to them and tell them it is SAFE. I would (and do), however, point out that the long term effects of the virus itself are not well-known--even among those that are entirely asymptomatic--and a even a 3-5% mortality is worrisome. So therefore I elect to take my risks with the vax. I may regret that decision, but at least it was my decision. I will have no one to blame but myself.

Anyway...not really sure where this rant came from...and I don't expect many will read it. But for those that actually do get this far, please allow me to make one more proposal: how about we all agree to figure out a way to ratchet down the outrage just a bit? We all, has human being, have far more in common and likely agree on far more major issues than we disagree one...let us please focus on the agreeable instead of being outraged over the few things we find disagreeable?

(**) Ref: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/16/covid-vaccine-side-effects-compensation-lawsuit.html

synopsis:
"If you experience severe side effects after getting a Covid vaccine, lawyers tell CNBC there is basically no one to blame in a U.S. court of law. The federal government has granted companies like Pfizer and Moderna immunity from liability if something unintentionally goes wrong with their vaccines."

Hello tplee,

You have done the TNet population a terrific service by sharing your harrowing experience with the COVID "vaccine" and by offering your educated perspective about why these COVID "vaccines" should remain as being administered only as per informed consent of the individual.

BTW, since the US Military has mandated the COVID "vaccines" for the soldiers, pericarditis cases among the enlisted have ~ tripled on a pro rata basis versus the times before the COVID "vaccines."

Thank you again.

The fact that they still call these breakthrough cases

Oct 22, 2021, 1:29 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Clemson receiver out for Pittsburgh game with COVID ]

Is an absolute joke! Because these are not exceptions to the rule. It is now quite common for people vaccinated, fully vaccinated, to catch Covid. We are also seeing more and more people die that have been fully vaccinated. All of this was predictable and plenty of people were saying this early last year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The fact that they still call these breakthrough cases

Oct 22, 2021, 3:17 PM

A smart and educated post, Lowcuntry_Tiger.

It is both fascinating and horrifying that so many Americans have embraced the tortured logic that the COVID vaccine (which is erroneously called a vaccine by the 'medical authorities' because ... by their own definition ... a vaccine must have +90% efficacy in PREVENTING infections) can only protect the vaccinated if the vaccinated don't come into contact with anyone that has NOT been vaccinated.

The multitude of wild statements in attempts to make the COVID "vaccine" seem plausible just keep getting wilder.

But since the Federal Gov't has spent nearly $100 Billion on COVID "vaccines" they will not easily accept being exposed for their stupidity. Instead they and their political acolytes in the media amplify their propaganda (such as attempting to create social pressure on those 'vaccine heretics' by label them as "science deniers").

As evidence that their 'logic' about the "vaccine" efficacy is good, instead of winning the argument based on logic, they are trying to use coercion to get the people to take the "vaccine" after signing their informed consent forms. Think about that for a second.

But with all the kickbacks to Gov't officials (including elected ones) which can come from a $100 B spend, no one should be surprised that the Fed. Gov't keeps pushing so frantically for the VAX.

As much as you and I don't agree with the state of the team, this would be amazing. Ross is such a natural at the boundary, and it might help with the drops since DJ's fastballs will slow down more by the time they get out there. Stellato never got much experience with route running in high school, but he's our fastest guy on the team and quick. If they've improved his route tree (which we'll see given TE), I think he could be an incredible slot receiver.

Oct 22, 2021, 10:34 AM [ in reply to Re: Was announced earlier that Stellato ]

It amazes me every time somebody blames DJ for WRs dropping passes that hit them in the hands.

Are that many people under the impression that Trevor Lawrence was just back there tossing out lollipops into some of those tight windows he threw into?

Trevor has an absolute cannon for an arm as well.

It's totally different if the pass comes out hot and it isn't leading the WR or inside of the frame of their body when it gets to them, but that has not been the case with very many of our WR drops this season.

I've seen those types of passes mostly to RBs (maybe a TE or 2) where the ball may be high and hard, which can be a very tough catch to come down with.

I admit this is a guess, but I’d suspect the positive result is from the weekly testing done on all students, regardless of vaccination status. Right now the percent positive is running around 0.2-0.3%. That means over a 1 month period one person on a 125 team will test positive. Seems like our last positive was about a month ago.

Why are we the only team you hear this happening to this year? Is CU the only team that tests? Nothing like tying one arm behind your back if we are.

Why are Vaccinations not mandated?

Oct 22, 2021, 9:59 AM

My understanding it that only unvaccinated players are tested!

Re: Why are Vaccinations not mandated?

In order to be given the COVID "vaccine" (or any other shot which has a low efficacy rate for PREVENTING infection ... such as the Flu shot), there is first a requirement for "informed consent."

Mandating the COVID shot (which has far too low of an efficacy rate in preventing infection ... a true vaccine has a +90% efficacy rate in preventing infection by definition) contradicts the "informed consent" rule.

We are not (yet) Peoples Republic of China.

Are Ladson Jr. or EJ Williams playing?

Oct 22, 2021, 10:00 AM

We have Ross, but other than that it's Ajou Ajou and freshmen or walk-ons if Ngata, Ladson Jr. Williams, and Spector are all out.

Well if Shipley is a go tomorrow, he nerds to be in the slot and move Ross to the boundary. Then Collins and Ajou could rotate. Shipley is our only game breaker and we have go to move him around a lot!! If he's not ready we better run for 150+ or its gonna be a bad day for our Tigers.

Re: TNET: Clemson receiver out for Pittsburgh game with COVID

Oct 22, 2021, 10:46 AM

Maybe:
- we open the back half of the playbook, and tight ends have a big day
- the RB's will play a bigger part of the passing game
- Ross and Ajou will be just fine on the outside

And none of this will matter if we don't show up on defense

By the way, all students are required to be tested if they have classes on campus. Vaccinated students too. It's all a bunch of crap because the virus is disappearing fast, the stadiums are full and at this point, it is hard to believe there is still testing and quarantines

Move Ross outside and play Stellato!***

Well we are doomed. It will be extremely difficult to win without the receiver that has been catching the most passes out.

This is so sad...the fact people are still buying into the scamDEMic is tragic. Complete and utter bulls*t, they co-opted the flu...it's not a "pandemic" and never was sheeple, just do the simple math. It's the greatest PsyOp in world history and the majority have failed. WTFU sheeple.

It is so sad for these kids...but we're being shown the evil that is left wing ideology, It is the greatest evil the World has ever known, and if you didn't know that, hopefully you're catching on now as it's being put in your face. What we're seeing is the leftist/Globalist agenda, an agenda of tyranny, fascism, and control - pillars of left wing ideology. If you don't believe me or know what I'm talking about it's simply because you've been brainwashed, conditioned, and programmed your entire life. Watch and see. And wtfu before it's too late.

Holy tinfoil hat Batman. Lot's to unpack there. Curious as to if you wake up that scared in the morning or if it comes on throughout the day as you watch your "programming". Let me get this straight, the left (generally speaking the nice guys who want to look out for grandma's and those who are at the bottom of the chain) have cooked up an global pandemic to try and take over the world and arm it with...tye dyes?? Not the right, and the ever growing corporate shills they keep in place in gov't? Or the industrial military complex? It's the peace freaks. thanks for pointing this out.
Get well Ngata! I am sure you will as you had the vaccine which, while it doesn't stop all infections, it does almost completely eradicate death to those who do catch the virus.

Hello TheColonel71,

Just checking ... does the "71" reference the year of your birth ... or perhaps the year that you graduated from HS or college?

I ask because, since Bill Clinton became president in 1992, the Democrat party has become the supreme "crony capitalist" political party. (Prior to B.Clinton's presidency, the Republicans had been the 'aluminum standard' of crony capitalism.)

If "71" represents the year of your graduation from school, then I guess you had not paid much attention to politics and policy since the beginning of the 1990s.

But don't take my word for it that the Democrats have truly mastered the evil art of crony capitalism. Instead, look at the plethora of giant USA companies that are propagate the propaganda put forth by the Democrats: WalMart, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Twitter, FakeBook, Disney ... and scads more. If the Republicans are the shills for the corporate world, then why are all of these giant evil corporations so deeply committed to Democrat policies and talking points?

Only the most myopic of Americans still believe that the "left" is the advocate for the "grandma's and those who are "at the bottom of the chain."

The good news is that you seem to be interested in policy. Now all that you have to do is earnestly THINK and REASON and RESEARC in order to get it figured out.

Good luck in getting there!

Even if we were playing decent, the admin would kill the season with these weekly COVID tests that I believe are complete hogwash. The PCR test is about as accurate as flipping a coin.

I see a handful of reasonable posts here and the rest are just pathetic cola fans pretending to be Clemson men. I’ll earmark this post for when we beat Pitt tomorrow.

OK, do we now have to go thru the "tracking" stuff and eliminate more players? Will Pitt claim we have to forfeit? FSU all over again?

Hate to see guys go out, may not make a huge difference in the W vs the L but he gave us more of a chance and an opportunity to improve overall with DJ. Covid has played a big part in the wonky play of all teams across the nation.

That's SIX beasts ready to go.

Get well, Ngata.

Vaccinated?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where is Brannon Spector?

Oct 23, 2021, 8:50 AM

Why play Justyn Ross out of position in the slot? He should be boundary receiver, especially with Ngata out. Ross excels at back shoulder throws, and getting up for high pointing the ball.

Spector has slot abilities, and runs routes more consistent inside.

We need more chips & releases from the TE to get easy yards, and the ball out quicker.

Go Tigers, keep the faith!
