I like this a lot. He is very close to being ready now, a few more pounds of good weight and he can be elite. Make the most sense with the depth we have at DE right now.

We seem to have plenty of DEs right now and can afford one or two being dinged up. Unless there is a major injury spree, if he wants to redshirt, then let him.

Love his attitude. A real Clemson guy. Patient and knows his role will be huge next year. Willing to put in the work and be ready. Not a me first attitude. Remember he came in as a big 5 star and still sees big picture. Pure props to him and hope for team health to allow this to happen.

These kind of guys are why this program is on another level. Big time 5 star, could and would headline almost any recruiting class, but a team first guy. Gonna be a nightmare for OT's.

Personally, I think that is great news, there isn't nothing better for a team that can red shirt a 5 star player and have them ready to just step in and start their college career ready from day 1. That will be something that KJ will never regret when he enters the NFL as a high draft choice...

This is great – exactly how the new redshirt rule is supposed to work. Get the guys some early experience without burning a year of eligibility.

He was one of my favorite players from our last recruiting class. So glad he's a Clemson man!
