Can't win them all. We're in good shape at safety. Other positions on defense are needed more so.

Are we really? Safety is a position like our oline was. We've recruited serviceable guys. Average rank but they'd stick around and get developed. As we all know, that's not optimal now. One of the weaknesses on our team.

Thanks Lester. I should have been a little more clear on my post. Hopefully the two we have committed will enroll early. I would think after this season, they'll have a good chance seeing the field. Also excited to see what Coach Allen does with our scheme.

I do agree, at this point, we have pressing needs at other positions.

Crap. Had a feeling he was ND bound. Back in the day 50+ years ago, we recruited fairly well in Pennsylvania. He's a good kid. Can't get em all. Uga got a big grab today too.

Really love the class we're building. More like the pre 2015 classes.

K. Anderson and K. Gebhardt mean anything to you? Anything else we sign at safety is gravy.

Those two gave us the luxury of going after a stud like O’Brien and if you miss it doesn’t break the class.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr is sort of a Pa guy since his dad played for the Eagles and NJ is close by where Jr went to school.
The dad was from tiny Hooks, Texas which also produced the great Heisman winner Billy Sims.

Y’all know how I feel after losing Dre Quinn the other day. We thought he was Te as bound.
I’m kidding because if they don’t go to Texas I want them at Clemson and we have shots at other edge guys. Plus we have Collins Simmons for 2 more years.

Tough loss no matter how you spin it, but I see the pull of Notre Dame, too. I’m not a fan, but I’ve been to their campus and it’s incredible

Good reply, but talent is always needed. Even if he’s at a loaded position he would be a standout on special teams. Stockpiling talent produces top teams year after year.

He seems like he will stay a safety, but aside from that, we could use a couple LBs.

Ah.... so you mean he wouldve been used as a nickle and couldve been the next Simmons for us. That makes me feel so much better 😔

His loss really

He had a golden opportunity to step outside the box to something beyond his known experience. Now he will just be part of the middling Domer mill that churns out typical Midwestern football mediocrity year after year.

The fact that he could not make that leap says something about his character. He may do well and even excel at ND but it will be in spite of his decision, not because of it.

This is such a typical Clemson fan thing to say……. This dude has no character issues at all. My goodness any kid that doesn’t come here either has character issues or wasn’t that needed anyways. How has that worked out the last 5 years? Get off your high horse and come back down to earth

Big loss , no doubt, but we were in it until the end and really I think it came down to Clemson vs ND ... But good luck to him and we got a couple of 5 stars and 4 star on DL and LB ready to come this way...
Go Tigers!!

Notre Dame is an AWESOME university as is Clemson and his other finalist. I'd rather him come to Clemson but no one knows how this kid is going to turn out. The only reason ppl feel some type of way is bc he is a 5 star. In 3 months 90% of you won't even remember his name.

Everyone makes mistakes in life. Now, he has the portal to fix this decision if it turns out to be a mistake. I too wish him the best. As a lifelong Tiger (I’m 80 yesrs old, class of ‘67) its hard to understand how anyone would not want to go to Clemson, but some choose otherwise and miss out on an experience of a lifetime IMHO. Go Tigers.

Well, it's a few hours closer to home. He is a Northerner, and ND is a great school academically with great football tradition. They are recruiting great also. They are a powerhouse as well. They are doing well. It's understandable for him. Who knows about the money aspect to top it all off?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We thought we had a chance against ND for a player named O'Brien ??***

I guess the long list of players that Coach Conn has recruited and had drafted in the NFL wasn't enough to convince this young man to attend Clemson. I'm sure having a list of players who have gone off to the NFL is a major factor in attracting top talent. There is no better example of this than Coach's Luke, Reed & Eason.
