This appears to be one of several top recruits who have Clemson in their final group. We will see how well Clemson does, and being the "winner" or just a finalist will say something important about Clemson's recruiting aura at the present time.
There is a very interesting article in "The Athletic" today (2 January) where 15 top recruits are interviewed regarding the importance of NIL and other aspects of the recruiting process. Clemson is mentioned once, although the article asks three questions of each recruit. One recruit spoke positively about Clemson's "barbershop photos", whatever that means. Interestingly, within the ACC, Georgia Tech and FSU were mentioned more than Clemson, and Texas A&M came up several times. Alabama was not mentioned very much, and neither was Georgia.
The recruits claimed NIL was of tertiary interest to them, with the most important aspects frequently being education and player development. The amount of money being offered in NIL varied greatly, in a few cases into seven figures, but it did not seem to make much difference (at least that is what was claimed).

Yeah, I'm going to go-ahead and claim shenanigans on that one. Old sayings often prove the truest, one of which is: Anytime they say it's not about the money, it's about the money! In the Era of one and done and the three year rule, education and culture will mean less an less, and cheddar drives the train.
