True, but we can’t fall too far behind financially or we won’t be able to keep up. I don’t have concerns for the next few years being in the ACC financially, but our TV exposure is going to suck. Just look at this past year as a perfect example. The $EC had all the prime time slots and we were relegated to noon or the ACC Network. That will hurt the program if it continues.

Exactly, most folks never heard of the CW network and don't even know if they have that Network listing in their TV viewing package!!!

Face it. As long as we are stuck in the ACC, and as of now, I see no way out, we will be used by the ACC and ESUCPN to their financial advantage. We are the ho, and they are the pimps. We get screwed and they get the money. And as long as we are being sold as $2 dollar ho, and the other pimps are getting $4 for their hos, we will always be stuck in the cheap motel rooms rented by the hour.

That last paragraph must be a joke. The ACC's one little certain path to the CFP is nothing compared to 4 and 5 times the chance if we were in the SEC or B1G. They will probably get 5 bids each in the future. How much further behind in 2031 will we fall when the 3 other Power conferences TV deals are up for renewal?

Clemson and Fl State get a bigger piece of the ACC pie and how long before Alabama, Georgia, Texas etc get a bigger piece of the SEC pie. Clemson is right back where they started.

Plus, their deals will be worth double or triple more than what the ACC will be paid. The SEC and the Big will be able to afford 5 star players by the dozen, and the ACC will be on a tight budget for a few 3 star players. By the time the Big and the SEC deals are made, the more that it will drive up the prices of star players at every star level!!!

It seems to me we will keep falling further behind. All the while, ESPN says publicly "what a great partnership we have with the ACC" and then burst out laughing once they leave the room and walk into the SEC/ESPN VIP room.

"Clemson could survive until 2026 under the current model" is just a ridiculous statement. We have far more than survived in the ACC and all you would have to do is visit conference schools and compare their facilities and the salaries of all the coaches to ours. Clemson has no money problem and the ACC is absolutely the right place to be.

I tend to agree. Texas and Texas A&M ended up in the SEC after 2 decades of flux..... SMU ended up in the ACC after over 3 decades of flux. Clemson needs to stay in the ACC unless we get an engraved invitation from the SEC. Otherwise, we have to stay put and keep winning in Football and Basketball.
ESPN stinks like the SEC, but we are stuck with them, so take the money. We have to do the best where we are today (Multiple National Championship teams Football, Soccer, Golf, etc...) and see what the future holds. We also need to get Elon Musk to join IPTAY.
SMU and others have major benefactors (Billionaire$$$), and the ACC with Notre Dame will be fine...
I can't wait for Basketball, Baseball, Golf, and the LSU game!
Go Tigers!

No reason to even consider going anywhere else if we want to remain in the playoffs. Not that we have any options anyway in reality. It's not going to be the S EC and it's certainly not going to be the big 10.

Clemson is just classless trying to break contract. Used to have class and would just ride out contract thet school signed with ACC then maybe read better next time

The contracts were hidden from public view…to try to hide the poor deal and insanely long latching covenant… Clemson is only trying to maintain financial viability with top teams in the country… not in the ACC…we are the class of that group but we continue to fall behind sec/big10…hence the lawsuit… I live the ACC historically and we will always be a big dog here but we aren’t competing just to win ACC but Nattys…
Go Tigers!!

It's good to see it being shared again that Clemson's lawsuit isn't asking out
Feb 3, 2025, 7:56 PM

|
of the ACC, it's asking for access to what exactly is financially binding us if we were to exit the conference today or at any time in the future. Lots of bad hyperbole about honoring deals and such on our part when to date we've had to sue the league just to truly examine the promises and guarantees, from us and from every other member as well. And how does the ACC commissioner's office, which is not a member institution, administer that overall, and are they doing it correctly.

Or was Swofford doing something shady in secret that would be worth lots of money for him. If we all remember when those deals were being made, Swofford wasn't that far away from his retirement and he saw a way to make sure that he had enough money to do whatever he and his wife had planned when he retired, and here was a way to get paid and he wouldn't have to touch his retirement funds to travel and see the places they wanted to go and see. People in his situation have probably done a lot more for a lot less and never be found out. I mean I wouldn't past him with feeling he could make a shady deal without ever being caught. I'm sure he would've never imagined one of the member schools would sue to find out what was in the contract that he never wanted seen by the public, I mean what reason would they have had to keep the contract closed unless there is something shady in the deal made with ESECPN!!!
