Government workers being hyper efficient while working from home ... that's why the US is in such good shape right now.

The federal government has had roughly the same number of civilian employees for the last 75 years. Pay and benefits for those 2.3 million employees account for less than 5% of federal spending.

By the way, when's Elon going to take a drug test like other federal employees have to?

Doge needs to get down to that local level since Elon (and Trump) knows what best for us.

Those are helpful for some things, but they do not measure the size of bureaucracy, in either people or scope. The fed has shifted its work more and more to contractors, who do not get counted in those grafts. The total number of employees is indeed 3 million, but the total number of employees and private contractors is about 7 million.

The bureaucracy is huge. How to cut that is another matter. Heck, CNN says it's hard to find out what all those contractors actually do, which is probably why doge is building a digital picture of where all the money is going. It's time somebody did, isnt it?

I don’t understand this visceral antagonism towards federal employees. Veterans make up the largest percentage of federal employees. Not saying everyone is efficient but painting everyone with a broad brush, in my opinion, is a great disservice.

I don't get it either. They have decided to demonize the federal workforce. To equate federal employment with fraud and waste. I guess it plays well with the population. Gives them someone to blame for their problems.
