ESPN debating if 6 SEC teams should get into the playoffs

I am confused. Does that mean the ACC gets 7 teams in since the second to worst team in the ACC boat raced the SEC team that is likely to win the SEC?
I only see 3 SEC teams that are playoff worthy - Bama, UGA, and TA&M.

THe barstool sports guys literally stated that Vandy should get in over da U since their two losses were to esecpn teams. da U has a win over ND that one idiot kept glossing over.
Actually, I'd find it hilarious if no acc team makes it in. This 'basketball' first conference would deserve it. 🤣

GaT is (for now) the best ACC team. If you had to bet your life on it, who would you take in the GaT/UGA game?

5 BIG is insane. 2 for sure. I'm not even sure how good Oregon is really at this point. The rest of that conference is comparable to the ACC at this point.

G6 left out of our #s, ND will be at large if they win out. I wouldn't count

out Miami yet if they rally and win out. As of now TAM, Bama, UGA, Ole miss in from the SEC. Some of those could lose their way out. Texas, Vandy, and OU would have to win there way in and more than likely take 1 or 2 of those others out if they do - haven't really looked at their schedules. 4-5 SEC at the end of the day. Likely 3 B10 but a 4th could win their way in - not sure if doing so knocks Oregon out(depends on schedule crossover). ACC likely 1, outside chance at 2 if 10-2 Miami or 11-2 GT is 2nd team. ND needs to win out. Big 12 1 or 2 teams(if ACC gets one and ND may need to lose). G6 - 1 team. ACC and B12 need to be pulling for ND loss and Oregon, USC and UM to take some more Ls, along with as many SEC teams not reaching the SEC champ game as possible getting a 3rd L.
5 to 7 loss Clemson will not be going.

B1G isn't sniffing 5 teams

They have two locks right now in OSU and Indiana. Oregon has a ton of injuries and still has to play USC. If Oregon loses that game and you really look at their resume - sure they've murdered some bad teams, but there really arent many quality wins on there. USC would be in at 10-2 if they beat Iowa and Oregon, and even if they lose to Iowa then beat Oregon they are going to be ahead of Oregon in the pecking order with the H2H win. The Ducks might not compare favorably at 9-3 to some SEC teams with similar records. 9-3 OU or Texas would both be in ahead of 9-3 Oregon, and 10-2 Vandy may be as well.
Michigan is very likely in if they beat Ohio State and 100% out if they dont. I think OSU is getting that monkey off their back this year though.
I think the B1G has a tough path to 4 teams, much less 5. 3 seems most likely to me.

even if they knock off Oregon. B1G has only 2 guarantees. Likely get a 3rd with 2 losses. A 3 loss team from that league will be borderline.

top 25 teams and so if they lose they don't drop much. Don't get me wrong there are a good amount of quality teams in the SEC but they also benefit from hyped ratings. Each Clemson championship we were the underdog by a good margin. I remember when we beat the greatest college football team of all time that one year.
With the current conference model being co-opted by big money (for a certain few) and the tv guys constantly marketing their bell cows, it creates a biased ranking system. So no one really knows who's lying to increase profits and who's being impartial. But the moment they start having half the teams in the playoff be from their bell cow conferences then it'll won't be worth the time to pay attention to it anymore.

If Texas and Oklahoma win out it’s going to be hard to keep either out, having beaten Georgia, AM, and Bama in the last few weeks. Won’t be surprised if it’s 6 in that scenario.

I think their top 6 are better than the ACC's best, but the ACC should definitely have a team in the playoff.

Ole Miss is 100% in at 11-1 and thats likely to happen

Texas and OU are both in if they win out, but they probably won't. Both are on life support at 9-3 but not 100% out of it because their schedules are so good.
Vandy isn't completely out of it if they finish 10-2 and beat Tennessee. I think their resume is substantially worse than Texas and OU though.
Some of this also comes down to what happens with ND and the Big 12. The ACC is only getting 1 team in. I think thats near certain at this point. The Big 12 has an outside chance of getting 2 teams in with TTU, BYU, and Utah all in the top 13 of the latest CFP rankings. ND is currently in if they win out. G5 is getting 1 team.
So there could be anywhere from 7 to 9 bids for the SEC and B1G depending on how things shake out with ND and the Big 12, and right now it looks like 3 bids for the B1G is the most likely outcome...

Louisville and Miami have a shot

Pitt is playing really well right now, but thats not a good draw for them getting Georgia.
Miami vs OU is probably close to a pick'em. Every other game the SEC team is favored. Louisville has slid in the power ratings and would now likely be a 5-7pt dog to Vandy. Almost every other line would favor the SEC team by 10-14pts. Bama - UVA is the most lopsided at Bama -17ish.
I think the SEC would win at least 6 out of 8 and quite possibly more.

Boy that is interesting..
I like ELk and TA&M but their offense is limited by QB play. GT could beat them. Bama easily UGA easily. Ole Miss not that impressive. Toss up if SMU QB is healthy Texas is vastly overrated but they'd beat Duke Louisville Toss up between U and OU Tennessee is another mediocre team but would be WF
I'd say 5-3 SEC

I think the portal has leveled the field somewhat and there are really no flawless teams. Ohio State has been the most impressive to me but their offense has been inconsistent.

spots would shake out. For example, if you started pulling teams from those 2 leagues for the playoff and say you have 7 spots for those 2 leagues, it could end up something like #1-4 SEC, #5 ACC, #6 SEC, #7 ACC. The ACC could literally lose every game like almost happened in basketball last year but that doesn't mean they wouldn't have a team or 2 better than 75 % of the SEC.
Miami is still the most talented/dangerous ACC team but if they don't get help to reach the title game they will need help elsewhere - obviously winning out, but a little chaos elsewhere, which will likely happen as it always does. Miami is at 15. They only have to move ~5 spots to be locked into an at large.

leader in the rankings. I assume they are pushing the narrative of a American Conf champ and a JMU at 12-1 over Duke at 9-4 or I guess possibly 8-5 if they got to the title game with 2 losses. I imagine even Duke ranks higher than JMU at that point. JMU played 1 game against P4 and lost to Louisville by 2 TDs.
