There is one correct answer if Clemson is forced to change..
Jul 5, 2022, 2:58 PM

and that answer is the SEC.
We are a better fit culturally, geographically, historically, and philosophically with the SEC than we are with the B1G, and it's not even close. Could we make the B1G work if we had to? Of course. Does that mean it's the right fit? No.
I'm all for saying the right things, keeping all doors open, not burning bridges, etc, etc... but if it comes down to it, for the Clemson we all know and love to survive, it's SEC or bust.

Who would force us out? If Big10 and SEC schools get more tv money, will that make their teams better? Players, not dollars, block and tackle.

ball players are the difference. That's why Clemson is anywhere from 20th to 30th in revenue, but is in the top 5 of football programs. Maybe the money is too good to pass up. Maybe the athletic department will greatly benefit; perhaps, the entire student body. But will money make blocking and tackling better, no! But you and I seem to be in a very small camp...
Go Tigers!

Geo and history yes. Totally not true cultural or philosophical. B1G is much closer. The closest cultural fit for Dabo who's instilled our culture that now permeates our entire Athletic philosophy is niether.

Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. This isn't even close. If you are talking locker room culture, that is a different animal, and changes from coach to coach even within a single program. But I agree, we are unique in that aspect.

my front yard at Lake Murray and burned the leaves, using diesel. Fewer leaves on the lakeside, but I did the same.
Then, one year I was in a hurry to finish up and used gas on the pile on the lakeside. The explosion was heard down the street, causing a couple of neighbors to come running. Decided right then and there that gasoline was a bad idea at best; an utterly stupid and foolish idea at worst! lol

I agree with you. There’s only one problem. The SEC doesn’t need Clemson. What do we bring to the table that they don’t already have? Nothing.

Correct .. and with Dabo there ... winning top games and Championships, it blows their narrative that Clemson couldn't hang with the SEC.
Perhaps they're right ... we would DOMINATE!!!

We are one of the 4-5 remaining teams not currently in the SEC/B1G who bring a lot to the table. Notre Dame, FSU, Miami, and a handful of others who have a somewhat weaker argument to be on the list (UNC/NCST/VT/UVA/Oregon/Washington/etal). And it's not about comparing us to what they have now, it's about where both conferences (SEC/B1G) are heading and who is left to pick from. If expansion continues, we will be a prime target for the reasons below...
Clemson would block a potential move by the B1G to the southeast if picked up by the SEC, and would give the B1G a foothold in the middle of SEC territory. Clemson is in the top 25 of Most Valuable Teams by Forbes. https://sports.yahoo.com/look-college-football-most-valuable-144039724.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall https://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/2019/09/12/college-football-most-valuable-clemson-texas-am/?sh=31616587a2e7 Clemson is in the top 10 for viewership. https://medium.com/run-it-back-with-zach/which-college-football-programs-bring-in-the-most-tv-viewers-efc03c689e50 Clemson is one of the top investors in their college football program. https://www.gobankingrates.com/net-worth/sports/ohio-state-alabama-and-23-more-of-the-most-expensive-college-football-programs/ Clemson is one of the most competitive programs in the country over the past decade, and would be a counter to the addition of a team like ND by the B1G or FSU to the SEC. https://trojanswire.usatoday.com/2022/07/04/why-clemsons-lawyers-are-about-to-get-paid-a-lot-of-money/

pushing for us joining either the SEC or the B1G as this is playing out - ESPN and FOX. We are phenomenal content and our alumni base has $$$ to spend. Even though ESPN has us now with their ACC deal, the writing is on the wall as to its long-term viability.

the new found equal recruiting footing we would find ourselves. no more losing recruits to ga tech or nc state. it’s just too dang hard here.
plus, the sec would probs pay to improve “even newer” renovations to lj. maybe even booger will show up at a game.
i suspect tigers would be in final 4 by 2024.

The BIG would allow Clemson to stand out, keep many players wanting to play in BIG, but not wanting to move to cold weather and away from family. In the sec, we would be just another (although very good ) football school. We would continue to spilt recruits with Bama, auburn, u, tam, etc. As for academics, I think we have more in common with BIg. Not sure what philosophical issue you are referring to.
If I get a vote (which I don’t), I vote BIG.
