He had possession when he crossed the goal line. An argument could be made that he was battling to keep the ball from being stripped away, but he had it in his possession. At no point, before the ball crossed the goal line, did the Ohio State man have any possession of the ball at all. The OSU man only got possession as they both hit the turf. By then, it was too late. It’s a real shame a big black hole can’t swallow up both those teams, isn’t it?

All day long. Absolutely ridiculous that refs can get away with crap like that. He didn’t even come up with the #### ball

Nah.... he never lost control until after he broke the plane.

He maintained it after the initial slap.
It's a great play either way.

He never controlled the ball long enough to have it deemed a catch is what most are saying

If it had been called a fumble it would have been overturned.

That's such a fine line. Nothing definitive to overturn the call.

Just seems like if the guy catches it (he did) and didn't drop it after it was slapped (he didn't) and crosses the goal line with secure possession (he did) and didn't lose it until falling down (he didn't) then TD is a better call than interception.

So the play is automatically dead after the ball crosses the plane? He didn’t have control and the ball was stripped away. I don’t understand how anyone can watch the slow mo replay and think that’s a td.

That's the thing though. If you judge that he never loses control

then, yes, it's dead as soon as the ball breaks the plane. If you deem he's losing control then it's a live ball and an interception.
Either way, it all comes back to whether or not you think he had clear control or not. Nothing that happens after that matters at all.

No matter how many times I see the replay, I'm not sure.
Was the ball ever completely secure? Can't really tell.

Really tough to overturn it in the end zone. But I agree with the above, I still can’t tell what happened
