Coaching search

Someone asked about the baseball coaching search earlier, so I will post it here. When I told you a few weeks before the end of the season that I expected a change to be made if the Tigers didn't make the tourney, I wasn't guessing. I already knew the plan thanks to a great source. And here is what I've been told regarding the search - it's still really early in the process and I don't expect anything to happen soon. That means that guys who are probably on the radar - like Link Jarrett at Notre Dame and Cliff Godwin at ECU - are still playing. Now, I am sure the list goes beyond those two, I am just using them as an example.
I was told that Clemson wants to go after a coach who is a proven winner at this level. And I was told that money really isn't an impediment. The administration looks at this as a top-10 or top-15 job and wants to hire and also pay accordingly.
I saw one poster that said "penny-ante" but I don't think that is the case. I think Clemson will pay for the right person. Now, who is that? I am not sure yet. Still working on that and will let you know as I hear things.

He was actually at Clemson I think in 2002 for one year as an unpaid assistant and I’m pretty sure we went to Omaha that year.

I’m guessing Monte also knew that was the case. The look on his face during the ACCT was one I had never seen. I think he was coming to grips with it being the end. As opposed to a surprise when he walked into Neffs office.

History of the programs and expectations. I expect the baseball team to make it to Omaha where as I expect basketball to be in the NIT.
With our history it’s hard to get the best players to even look our way in basketball.

I don't think Penny Ante would be a good choice.
She's not really qualified to coach at this level.
