I don't recall hearing his name associated with any other jobs.

He has been getting more spin from insiders and Indiana fans on X and social media the last couple of weeks how well the Tigers have been playing. Again, I think he is a secondary candidate if the top targets all say no.

No way our legend would leave us, especially after we've stuck with him during the hard times.

I don't recall hearing his name associated with any other jobs.
Two reasons
The first is he has not shown interest in other jobs as he was invested in Clemson while both daughters were in school including Clemson.
After our AD stepped up, he now has a resume which generates interest.

This may be the first time I have ever seen a Clemson player going on record

that his coach/former coach would do a good job somewhere else, while said coach is still at Clemson. Is it common for players to do this? I’d think they’d be wanting him to stay and would act accordingly.

TO didn't play under Coach Brownell. He played for Oliver Purnell. He was a grad assistant under Coach Brownell a few years back.

Terrence Oglesby was on Qualk's show just now on wccpfm.com and said even though he posted that, he doesn't think Coach Brownell would take the job or be hired, but at least maybe get a call from Indiana to ask him to interview for it.

Why would he be? He knows where he's at he only has to make it to the dance around 30% of the time to keep his job. Why go somewhere where there might be serious expectations of him.

Might be interested in leaving this lousy, ungrateful, pathetic fan base and go somewhere where he will appreciated. The Lunatic Fringe will not rest until he is driven out of town. All he does is win and all the LF does is whine.

All he does is win eh? How many National title does he have again? Ok, that's too high of a bar, how about Conference titles? Surely he has a few of those in 15 years? No?, what about final fours, he has plenty of those I guess right? Bar still to high? Well sure he has a great record at least getting team TO the dance at least? Oh that's right, just like I said, 30% success rate is good enough for some.
I don't have a problem with Brownell, really. Clemson has never been a basketball school, everyone knows that. I can't speak for anyone else here but what I have a problem with is the so called fans that constantly attack Dabo even when he's one of if not the greatest coach Clemson has ever had. If you want to act like Brownell is the best coach Clemson has ever had he needs to get on the ball and start winning some...ANY kind of championships. THEN we can have that conversation. Until then, you and Keller would catch a LOT less flak if you'd keep your backhanded compliments and snark directed at the football program in check.
You ever notice that when people aren't around to attack the football team no one really says anything about the basketball team? I wonder why that is. When pot stirrers keep their hands off the spoon no one really has much to say about Basketball other than enjoying the teams run. You want to see less people bringing up Brownells stats? Keep your hands off the spoon.

My question is, is it common for former players to suggest the current coach of their given sport at their former school, be a leading candidate for another job?
It’s like a kid recommending his dad go be the dad of another family because he is such a good dad at his house. Something seems off.

Brad has been deep into getting transfers in since he got here.

He's pretty much had to considering the high turnover with his HS recruits. Now that the rules have changed to allow for instant eligibility with these I doubt it would take as many years at a new stop as it has here. He has tremendous experience putting a roster together this way and that appears to be paying off.
While not the 'next man up' mentality that Dabo has established here through his retention and development expertise in football, 'next transfer in' is working well enough in hoops, and with the much smaller numbers involved might actually be sustainable in the longer term.

I have had my frustrations with Brownell over the years (that first round NIT flop a couple years ago still irks me) but honestly I think he’s a great fit here and he loves being here. The program has reached another level the past couple of years.
