Tailgating Questions

I've been to several games in the Valley, but the vast majority have been as a student who walks to the stadium. This weekend is the first time in a long time that the whole family will be tailgating, and we have some questions for the more experienced tailgaters.
The first and biggest question, since this a 7pm kick, what time do most people start showing up to the lots? Will it be impossible to get into our lot if we show up in the early afternoon (like 12 or 1 pm)? We're bringing some people from out of town for their first Clemson game, so we want to show them the school and all of the fanfare like Tiger walk and the pre game band concert, but we also don't want to tire them out before the actual game.
The second relates to the actual lot. We have a space in lot 2, how much space will we have for a table and some chairs if we only have one space? We were thinking about bringing in some BBQ, and putting them on tray warmers. I have to get a table, and I'm not sure how big I can get away with.
Since we're bringing in first timers, is there any can't miss Clemson gameday traditions / locations we should take them to besides the regimented school events like Tiger walk and the band.
The last thing I can think of right now, is what would you recommend bringing besides the obvious? Is there anything that you can't live without at a tailgate that wouldn't be obvious to someone who hasn't done this a bunch?
I'll probably think of more questions, but I want to thank everyone who may have some insight.
Go Tigers!

- good thing about a 7pm kick is people arrive at all different times as the traffic typically isn’t as bad as a noon/330 kicks. If you are arriving at noon or 1 you will have no problem getting to your spot.
- Something I would be concerned about is the condition of your spot on Saturday. Lot 2 is a grass lot. If we get the amount of rain they are calling for it is going to be a mess. If my memory serves I believe there have been times where all grass lots have been closed, so I would keep a close eye on that. That being said you’ll have the room for your vehicle as well as a table for your setup. But not a bad idea to have a plan B.
- if you are bringing first time visitors I would walk them around campuses, show them all the other tailgates. Bring them downtown. I’m unaware of any special events has it looks like they have postpone the homecoming plans because of the weather.
Best of luck

Bring a pop-up for sun or rain so you can still enjoy time. I think ours is 10x10. Just wide enough to cover bed of truck, tv, food and let ppl get some shade. Esso is a good spot to share. Make sure you get into stadium early enough to see them run the hill.
Campus tour, Tiger Walk etc are all fine if the weather is ok.

This is exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. I didn't even think about a tent, thanks!

I know this thread is a couple weeks old, but just curious for next week's Virginia game (and I live on the other side of the country): but how are the grass lots, like lot 1 and lot 2? I assume they are just fine and fully recovered from the Helene weather?

I have heard they are ok.
My question I have is do the restaurants open earlier for noon kick off. Say like 9am for breakfast?
