I think that's bc we will win the ACC so that's a bye spot. Then we get to host a playoff game! How great that will be!
I gotta say it looks weird for SMU to be ACC. Carolina North gets no ranking? Is that food for Mac's bulletin board?

They’ll rotate at the New Year’s Six bowl tier sites.
From CFP last year: The 2024 quarterfinals will take place in the Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, while the Cotton Bowl and Orange Bowl will host the Playoff Semifinals. The 2025 quarterfinals will take place in the Cotton Bowl, Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl, while the Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl will host the Playoff Semifinals.

Agree - Notre Dame and Penn State are perennially overranked by the media in preseason. Also known as Peaking in August. Also, with expansion of the Big10, Penn State will actually need to play more than 2 competitive games next year. (They lost both in 2023).

ND's preseason ranking was 13th. Their final ranking was 14th. Pretty spot on actually.

I’d like to say the way too early ranking is BS. But as of right now, I don’t think it is. Clemson went from a Top 5 program to Top 15 program because of the ACC. Recruiting is now all about money; the SeC/BIG have more and the gap is about to get drastically bigger.

And the whole CFP is open to being revisited so look for automatic conference winner bids to be removed now that all of the favored teams are in the BIG and SEC plus Notre Dame.
