I know there are some schools that still play songs that EVERYONE knows and can identify with. The students of today are not paying the bills and the older ones that are are the ones that should be given priority IMHO.

Believe me when I say this, I'd much prefer listening to Smokey's Soul Town (on Sirius radio) to today's "music".

personally,
i had never heard sweet caroline until after college and still can't stand it . i find it very dorky that people lose their minds to that song

overwhelming majority of people under 30 have zero interest in Beach Boys. Motown, Sweet Caroline, or George Jones.
Just say you want to listen to the same music you've listened to your whole life and have no interest in changing. It's ok.
Most kids don't want to listen to their grandparents music. That is also ok.
