of probation, after NCAA thought a year less sentence was enough.
John Swofford is THE ONLY College Conference Commissioner who presides over a conference where he is a graduate of a college from That conference.
Plus, he played ball at UNC.
Oh, about 5 years ago after Unc barely beat Clemson I watched him come out on the field immediately after the game at Chapel Hill..in a Baby Blue jacket and congrat Unc Coach.

When I saw Dabo and Swofford both holding the ACC championship football, I was wondering if Dabo felt like he needed to wash his hands or take a shower after that experience.

I agree! Swofford has done nothing for Clemson and very little for the ACC! Well, he did get UNC a light tap on the wrist for 20 years of fake classes for their basketball team. What a joke!!! He’s a snake in the grass and should be replaced!

Absolutely not. The NCAA gave us 2 years probation and the ACC tacked on another years. The last year, the one the ACC tacked on was the year we beat the ACC champions up and down the field yelling Boomer as we stomped Maryland

It,s the only time it has ever happened. When the NCAA hands down their final judgement, it,s the first and only time a CONFERENCE has added more time to the penalty. I will pull for Russia before I would pull for UNC. They went back 18 of players not going to class and still got off the hook. Absolutely pathetic.

As I recall, UNC had a lot of help from most other ACC schools. I recall WF being on our side and perhaps a few others.

UNC has always been at the forefront of conference politics and Swofford as the head of Tar Heel athletics was in a prime position to help lead the charge.
If it wasn’t Swofford, who was it? The idea didn’t just spring forth fully formed from all the schools simultaneously.
Somebody decided it was a good idea and somebody promoted the idea.

Can help me remember the facts. I recall the commissioner in the 80’s to be a guy named Bob James and I think Jim Weaver replaced him for awhile. Swofford didn’t become the head man until sometimes in the 90’s. He was the AD at that institution in Orange County prior to jumping onboard with the other acc schools. Never thought that was fair but I don’t recall them asking me!

up in arms over the ACC additional probation and sent strongly worded messages to Clemson.
Although the ACC faculty representatives cast the votes for the extra penalty, we never believed they would have done so without express permission (or agreement) from their respective AD's.
What was generally understood was that the AD's of UNC and Duke concocted the idea, and who were those AD's? John Swofford and Tom Butters, respectively. Initially Wake and Maryland stood solidly with Clemson, but overt pressure from others forced the faculty reps hands.
Swofford and anyone else can obfuscate all they want, but I still assign direct responsibility to him and Butters for initiating the action.
Why Clemson sat still for that man's selection as the ACC Commissioner remains a mystery to me.

Here’s a point to remember about Swofford becoming the ACC Commissioner. Clemson was the school that nominated Swofford to be the Commissioner of the ACC.
