Safety in NOLA

Thoughts on the overall safety and atmosphere of NOLA for tailgating? This isn’t your average venue, especially since we are playing the hometown team. Just curious of everyone’s thoughts.

It sounds like the weather is going to be pretty lousy...

so I'd suggest the Clemson Family Tailgate.
The cost includes food and adult beverages plus you're with a lot of other Clemson fans.

If you don’t want to do the Clemson Family Tailgate then you’re probably best off hitting the restaurants/bars ahead of the game. I think the fan stuff will still be going on too.

Parking lots around the Superdome do not allow tailgating. I definitely wouldn't recommend doing it on sidestreets within walking distance.

What are you worried about?

If you're actually frightened, don't drink and carry your pistol. Your SC CWP is legal in LA.

The people of N'awlins are fine - very friendly and welcoming. They welcome visitors for festivals all of the time.
Some LSU fans might be over the top, especially after the game. All you have to do is find a good bar (the area is not really set up for tailgating) with a reasonable mix of Clemson fans and you'll be fine.
I've partied in N'awlins a half dozen times and never once had a bad experience. Get u some gumbo.

Any advice on how to best get to a party after the game?

Been told to use Poydras and avoid Rampart/Loyola. Go down to Magazine or Camp St and then head north

Should tell this to the drunk LSU fan who tried to pick a fight at Fat Harry's during the ACC Championship Game. We were there joining the New Orleans Clemson Alumni Club to watch the game. This drunk came into our Viewing room taking crap. Then he started with the F.'ing words and the dic words up our aholes. My wife was there along with several ladies so I told him to shut his lip. He was eventually escorted out but his final words were "I'll be waiting for you outside". We left in the fourth quarter but he must have crawled back to his hole as he wasn't waiting.

there's not a whole lot of tailgating around the Dome, best bet would be to hit up a bar in the Warehouse district and drink till you have to leave for kickoff. With POTUS coming in, I'm thinking security will be crazy. Hit up Company Burger on Girod for the protein before crossing Loyola on way to the Dome.
just like any other city, don't go alone down a dark alley. Stay with the crowds.
