Russia seeds chatbots with lies. Any bad actor could game AI the same way.

Garbage in, garbage out still applies for AI. I had wondered about this from the start. Using AI for research is questionable at best, probably closer to worthless based on flooding the zone with misinformation.

AI seems like it might be a waste of electricity for anything that has the slightest political ramification.

Actually, not useless. AI's have a rare ability to analyze data and sort out the bad stuff...if they've gotten enough good data to be able to discern the bad.

One thing that's very obvious is, AI's are going to have to do a thorough reparsing of every bit of information they have...because it's not just the Russians, humans have been seeding histories with exaggerations, biased accounts, and straight-up lies ever since the first two cavemen sat around a fire swapping lies about how big that bear they just killed with a spear was. That pile of lies grown at a geometric rate ever since. In some ways it's come to be the base of our civilization.

One thing that is not going to be negotiable is a one-off, one-per-customer verifiable internet crypto token, that can only be issued in the real world to real people. Basically, it'll be able to establish that an account is indeed a real account...and while it will also preserve a person's anonymity, it'll also verify that they actually exist. Otherwise the Internet is going to be absolutely overwhelmed with AI agents, as you mentioned.

This kind of stuff was always going to have to be solved. And it's going to be a thing that's solved at the inter-corporate level because governments are increasingly useless for this kind of thing.

The key word is "artificial."

AI, at the core, is nothing more than a highly complex set of programs in a computer. The computer can collect data and analyze the data in the manner in which it was programmed to do so. The computer may have, in some sense, a "brain" but it does not have a "mind."

It is a material machine. There is nothing immaterial in it. It has no emotions or opinions or biases. It cannot "think." It can simulate thinking. But, all it is doing is responding to data the way it was programmed to do.
