What the hail did they do to improve so dramatically? They were putrid last year with a pretty good QB. If it’s a portal thing, which it has to be, imagine if Dabo selectively peppered some guys here and there.
As a fan I’m so frustrated by all this. I’m seeing recruiting drop off, I see how poorly coached we are in all 3 phases, and I wonder how this roster can possibly improve year to year not using the portal and NIL for HS recruiting.
Am I wrong? If I am, please inform me how this program gets back to where it was doing nothing?

They live and die by the portal. They'll recruit some 4* guys and they'll either stay or also portal out. That's all their program has succumb to now. A portal station that can throw bags of cash at players now.

Beamer has used the portal to his advantage, but he has a lot of dudes that he recruited that stuck around until their senior season. So yes, they will. They have 34 seniors—16 are starters.
