Well we have had the fewest explosive plays of almost anyone in the nation over the past 3 years. We have nickeled and dimed all the way down the field for TDs.
This stat just shows that it didn’t take georgia as many plays to score per TD last year, and I think Everyone already knew that.

Klubnik either got sacked or ran for his life 13.5% of the time he dropped back, where Beck only did on 8.5% of the time.
Interpretation: UGA's O line was a lot better protecting their QB and/or giving him time to find a receiver.

Well, Cade has almost twice the rushing yards as Carson: 321 to 174, so I'm not sure that really holds true. How many of those dropbacks were designed runs or QB draws? I just thought it needed more context.

This is a bad take. Cade was pressured about average among P5 QBs. He ranked last in passes beyond 20 yards and third from last in passes beyond the sticks.

I honestly believe that on 8/31, Cade will have a better game than Carson. Cade has a higher ceiling than Carson and I feel that the Clemson offense will click this season.

I am not a recruit ranking guru but, I understand how to look at 247. Carson was rated a 4 star with a grade of 92. Cade was rated a five star with a grade of 98. I also understand that some recruits can be a bust. All I am saying is don’t be surprised if Cade comes out looking like a Heisman candidate because he is due.

Here's the thing, we do have data to show how the respective QBs are doing compared to their billing coming out of HS.
TL R - While Cade has slightly more actual game experience, Carson has exceeded Cades career numbers in almost every metric.
Career-to-date data from PFF:
Game Experience: Cade - 622 dropbacks with 562 passing attempts Carson - 519 dropbacks with 475 passing attempts
Career Comp %: Cade - 62.3% (73.9% adjusted for drops) Carson - 70.9% (79.4% adjusted for drops)
Career Yards, TDs, and INTs: Cade - 3527 yds with 21 TDs and 12 INTs Carson - 4417 yds with 29 TDs and 8 INTs
Career Yards per Attempt and TD/INT ratio: Cade - 6.3 YPA and 1.75 TD/INT ratio Carson - 9.3 YPA and 3.63 TD/INT ratio
Career Big Time Throw % vs Career Turnover Worthy Play % (as determined by PFF): Cade - BTT 2.4% vs. TWP 3.6% Carson - BTT 4.2% vs. TWP 2.2%
Career Pressures: Cade - Defensive Pressures on 34% of dropbacks with 34 sacks Carson - Defensive Pressures on 19% of dropbacks with 12 sacks

Red dawg, you also mentioned Cade’s career. Look at him in high school while he was playing in a tough high school league. He has potential to be really good. I was actually thinking this morning while working where on the field Clemson might have an advantage over UGA in a position group. I came up with QB. Got home and saw this thread.

I think that is a key difference between Beck and Cade, Cade was basically a freshman last year in a new offense because dabo wouldn’t get him on the field his true freshman year to keep DJ’s ego intact.
Not disagreeing with you that on the field Beck is more proven in that regard, but he had what I believe to be substantially better OL play and WR’s last year compared to Cade.

So both will be coming into the game as equals. As Prosperity just mentioned, Carson had the luxury of having a great oline and receivers. Cade’s situation this year should be much improved in regards to the oline and receivers. If Dawg fans are not entertaining the idea that Cade could be the better QB, they are delusional.
I am going to go ahead and leave this here too. Mafah will be the better running back on the field for either team.

Are you even trying to be serious here? Is it ~possible~ that Cade has a better game than Carson? Well sure it's possible. But a LOT has to go right for Clemson for that to happen. Carson has demonstrated on the field that he is better at reading defenses pre-snap, he processes better post-snap, he has better throwing mechanics in live action, he throws with more accuracy, he is less error-prone, and on and on. That's not me talking - ask any NFL scout and they'll say the same thing. Now yes, to be fair, issues with your OL and WRs have contributed to Cade's performance. I mean duh. Will all of those issues be corrected in game one? Well maybe so - it's certainly ~possible~. The question is how likely is it? Maybe some of your receivers improve while others don't. Maybe one of your Fr receivers shows out while the other doesn't. Maybe your OL improves in some areas but not others. Or maybe they improve in one area and digress in another. Lot's of different scenarios are possible there. But expecting ALL of those things to improve, to the extent they need to be improved, in the first game while going against a formidable opponent - well, I'd say some folks may think ~that~ is a little delusional.

I am very serious. You yourself stated that the two were considered pretty much equal after their junior year of high school. Last year Carson had every tool available from his first snap and the Dawgs came up empty. I love that you are thinking that this game is over before it starts. Cade is due because he has the tools. I have watched a lot of Clemson football and I just have a feeling about this one. Spot the ball and Go Tigers!

came up empty.
Empty? Really? No we didn't win the National Championship, but I'm not sure going 13-1 with a top 5 finish and an epic beatdown in a NY6 Bowl would be coming up "empty". As far as thinking the game is over before it starts, keep in mind I'm not the one here making bold claims about any players that far exceed anything they've exhibited on the field. Just seems like a bit of a reach to me.

Gee. I wonder if it’s possible that any position on the Dawg’s are at risk of digressing. Maybe on one crucial play. What would that look like? More meat for the famed portal?

It's complete possible that Cade is better. But the spectrum of "better" is so wide that it could not matter.
Phil Mafah may have a better statistical game... but his RB3 at UGA.

Mafah will be the better running back on the field for either team.
Mafah is basically a slightly bigger Daijun Edwards. He's a good back, but not elite.
Mafah Career #'s: 344 carries for 1773 yards with 5.2 YPA average, 20 TDs, and 3 fumbles 1243 yards after contact for a 3.61 YPA after contact and 77 missed tackles forced 42 10+ yard carries 37 catches on 47 targets for 206 yards
Edwards' Career #'s: 390 carries for 2089 yards with 5.4 YPA average, 24 TDs, and 2 fumbles 1255 yards after contact for a 3.22 YPA after contact and 103 missed tackles forced 60 10+ yard carries 37 catches on 47 targets for 343 yards

If you watch their High School film, you'll notice that Cade had several teammates his Sr season who played college ball - including two FBS OL. In Beck's Sr season, he was the only Sr on the offense - every other player was either an underclassman or a 1st year starter. His 247 grade took a corresponding dip his Sr season. Both Beck and Klubnik were rated about the same following their respective Junior seasons.

A higher ceiling than the preseason All America QB who is projected as a top 5 NFL draft pick? I hope Cade plays to his potential but the ceiling is about the same. Problem is Cade has a much lower floor.

He shows the film on how Cade consistently misses open guys and runs into trouble. Also our WR's are still bad at running routes.
We have MANY more open WR's than Cade will throw to. Cade is often bailing on developing routes even when he has time and space.
