Homemade ice cream

I think we received our ice cream churn as a wedding gift.
So a long time ago, MsLovin attempted to make ice cream. After an hour or so churning, still liquid. It was a failure.
So a long time ago again, but maybe a couple years later. Attempt #2 was made. After an hour or so churning, still liquid. #Fail.
So today is the day, right? She and McJr went to the store this morning. Then they couldn't get everything so they went to a second store. All supplies were purchased and they returned home.
They started the ice cream around 11:00 or so. Everything was put together, connected to power, got some churning action going on. After a while, the ice cream starts hardening. It's looking promising. A little more time and bam! Homemade chocolate ice cream! Upon the initial serving of the ice cream, there is a flaky substance discovered on the top layer. It's tiny metal shavings from the shaft. Ice cream is ruined.
TLDR: We buy ice cream already made

BUt I meant babby batter. Made some last night when she was grinding on the shaft. Only takes a couple mins.
Did you think I meant real yogurt?

banilla, all the hits.
Then he would freeze the leftovers in an old butter tub and sit down watching Married with Children eating all the leftovers the next night.
I always loved hearing that sound of the churn while we played in the pool. I always HATED waiting an hour after we were done eating supper for the ice cream to be ready.

If it is still liquid, maybe you arent using enough salt.
I got my parents manual churn, 5 quart mixer, that they have had for years... I have made vanilla, vanilla with no sugar and used honey instead, strawberry, peach (one of my favorites), mint chocolate chip by warming the milk up in a sauce pan with a whole lot of chocolate mint, straining it out, and then adding mini dark chocolate chips into the mix.
I now need to make some homemade ice cream tonight or tomorrow.

I'm wondering if the churn was actually churning last 2 times

This time it was stripping from the gear / shaving tiny flakes of metal.
I'm assuming the issue in all 3 cases was the shaft not being inserted fully or correctly.

My mom has made homemade peach icecream the last 20 years.

At one point her sister had a shop in Tryon w the icecream. Lasted maybe 6 years before they went to Landrum.
It always is and was great. Gotta get fresh local peaches.
