The hill is as full as it ever has been for "big" games and was never full for many lesser games in the 45 years we had season tickets.

the balloons were a red herring. The actual problem was the extremely high (and rising) cost of Helium.

Na…I pick them up when offshore fishing out of murrells inlet when I see them. it used to look cool at Clemson as a kid
But it’s just litter to land somewhere else..

But it’s just litter to land somewhere else..
You picked up a balloon from Clemson or just some random balloon? It is litter so a good idea unless they give a BB gun to each student standing on the hill so they can shoot the balloons before they get too high and all the litter would be on the field for easy cleanup.

Did a little research and found that bubbles are an eco friendly alternative to balloons. All we need are several bubble machines which shoot orange bubbles, and we are back in business.

I’m all for the ballon release.
We’ve been to many home games and watched thousands float away.
Here is what happens now when ballon’s are released… they always float to the ocean where the sea turtles mistake them for a jellyfish. The turtle eats the deflated ballon and chokes and struggles to survive. A shark senses the distress and eats the turtle. The injested ballon that caused the sea turtle to struggle is now causing the shark breathing issues as it gets caught up in the gills. The shark dies and washes up on the beach. The autopsy reveals the shark ate a turtle that had eaten a ballon and the ballon got caught up in the sharks gills leading to the death of the shark.
Dolphins learned long ago not to eat ballons.

Are you sure that happens to the biodegradable ones Clemson was using? The ones that pop and shatter into 'mist' at high elevations?

Not sure on those but I have seen ballons “evaporated” sort of.
Growing up in the 70’s we would on occasion score some m-80’s.
We would ride our bikes to the Eckard Drug store as they had a helium ballon dispenser.
We would get 3-4 balloons and ride back to the house. Then we would tie an m-80 to the balloons
With the fuse stuck into a lit cigarette and let it go.
It would always without fail rise up and drift over the local golf course across the street. We would watch for a few minutes and see the flash followed by the very loud Boom.
To us it appeared to have evaporated/ designated. Of course we never went to inspect any debris
