Well who else would you have there? SC? This time of year several teams are at 7-4. Have to put the best 7-4 teams in there.

Which 9-2 teams do you mean? The only 9-2 teams I see that aren't ranked in the AP poll are Troy, South Alabama, and UTSA. I guess you could rank those teams ahead of Texas if the only thing you care about is record regardless of schedule played, but with that logic why would any team ever play any OOC game against anyone other than cupcakes? One of those 3 teams(UTSA) lost 41-20 to Texas btw.
This is why I've never really been a fan of expanding the CFP btw. It's always hard finding 4 teams without a ton of flaws, and things start to quickly fall apart as you get just outside of the top 10. With a 12 team playoff you'd have teams like Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Penn State, and Oregon as near locks to make it in this season.
Also assuming the expanded field would take the highest ranked non P5 team then we'd have a 2 loss Tulane team looking at landing a spot. We'd also have teams like Washington, Utah, ND, UCLA, and FSU still with a chance to make it in.

I would hope the committee puts scar at 25. Between scar , Texas, and wake, scar has the highest win over ranked team. Wakes 2nd and then Texas with win over k state.
My opine is it gives tcu a ranked opponent. But actually wake has the better wins overall.

and the poll is just as irrelevant as its voters.
We’ll see how the rankings look tomorrow night.
I’ll take my point now. Thank you

I think you can make an argument of Texas being a top 25 team, especially when you try and make an argument for a team outside the top 25 moving ahead of them. All 4 of their losses have been by 7 points or less with 3 of their 4 losses coming against top 25 teams, or 2 now since Oklahoma State just fell out of the rankings. The only loss to an unranked team was a 3 point loss on the road without their starting QB, and the loss to Bama came without their starting QB for a large period of the game. Also, 3 of their losses were on the road with the 1 home loss being a 7 point loss to the #4 team in the country. I don't see how those results mean that a ranking of #24 is crazy or anything. I'm not sure any team ranked behind them would've faired any better with the same schedule.

Gives Bama and TCU another top 25 win. Agenda > logic when it comes to the polls.
