Thanks for the critique, BD. Perhaps you can enlighten us on the proper limerick structure. I'm an old fart, and all I remember is lines 1, 2 & 5 rhyme, as do 3 & 4.

Yep - 1,2, and 5 rhyme; 3 and 4 rhyme.
The meter should be this basic pattern of strong (S) and weak (w) syllables:
w S w w S w w S
w S w w S w w S
w S w w S
w S w w S
w S w w S w w S
The backbone is the waltz-type triplet rhythm across 3 "downbeats" in lines 1,2,5 and 2 "downbeats" in lines 3,4. Sometimes I take a little license and tack on some trailing syllables after the last strong beat like this:
