Im having an argument..

So my mom came over this morning w my aunt. She woke me up bc I was still sleeping at 9:30. No worries and thanks mommy. Brought me some pickle balls (pickle flavored cheese balls) as she was just in the north country.
Here is the argument, she gave my step son $50 for graduation but my wife says she would give my kids more. None of my kids have graduated yet so it’s kinda a moot point.
I told her life isn’t fair. The other grandparents (hers) gave him $250. But they won’t give my kids $250 and I don’t give a F about it. Who cares.
Apparently she does…

My parents give my kids money for str8 A’s but haven’t for hers. My mom says they need to text me and send me the grades and I’ll be glad to. Step kids don’t feel comfortable doing that.

All SHOULD be treated equally, IMO, but she can do as she pleases and if they other kids' GPs are giving them benefits that your kids don't get, it probably evens out.

Gave graduation kid $1000 and the other two $100 each. They paid 5k for the one in Clemson this past year. So like what is the issue??? My kids are not their great grandchildren and I understand that.
Apparently it’s a one way street. And I let them stay at the lake house and made them dinner! Took them on a boat ride. But my kids won’t get that $1000 and I get it. I’m not Bitching about it

So my #### isn't my biggest concern, AT ALL. I've already signed up to lose half. I basically gave half up front, as I see it. Whatever #### I get, half is hers. Period. And vice versa.
The problem is usually the vice versa. A lot of times if fortunes change, she will bolt. Fortunes change the other way, she won't. If you end up having a stellar career, and making tons of money, etc. she will stay. If she ends up having her career take off, and yours declines, she will bolt.

This seems like your wife is resentful over something else. Who could blame her? I couldn't tell you the last time my wife or I slept that late on a weekday. Zero women on this earth are going to be ok with their able-bodied husband indefinitely lounging around the house while they go work and provide financially.
For your own good and the good of your marriage/family, get out of bed and get a job, even if it isn't your dream job. This scenario is headed toward serious marital trouble.

taking her side and buffering the situation. IE, easier to have your wife mad at you instead of your Mommy so you are taking the path of least resistance.
To be honest there's no win in this situation for you but happy wife = happy wife. If the kids aren't making the same effort with the step grandparents that may be part of the problem. Hopefully your stepkids have enough family who love them that your parents are just "bonus grandparents" if not, that may be also part of the rub.
My kids are treated like 2nd class citizens and it chaps my ### because my kids are really well behaved, hard working, good students and my nephews are total ######## and she treats them like little princes. The jokes on her in the long run though.

My in-laws have this weird ritual

They don't want any of the grandkids to be sad they're not in the limelight.
So on birthdays, they give a smaller 'just because' gift to the non-birthday sibling. For my son's 8th grade graduation, he received a $100 amazon card ... while his 6th grade brother also received a $50 card.
I like they pass money to my kids, and appreciate the generosity, but also struggle as my kids need to be okay not being center of attention at all times.
