My hate for the ACC has a long history

Last night was just another reminder, although we lost that game on stupid, untimely turnovers at the end, not exactly the refs.
I am an old timer and remember the extra year of sanctions the ACC put on Clemson in 1984. Only Maryland and Wake Forest voted NO against them. Maryland is gone now.
I hate the ACC. I hate North Carolina and Duke, especially.
I am not a "blame the refs" guy, but these shenanigans have been happening over and over again at Duke and at UNC in basketball and are hard to ignore.
We have the biggest collection of joker ACC football refs in the country to boot.
We have a crappy iron-clade network deal.
I will celebrate the day we leave this sinking ship.

I will be glad when this ship becomes a Group of 5 conference.

I remember it well and thought we should have left the ACC when they tacked on that extra year.

I mean, when just about your entire conference turns against you, it's time to go.

It would have saved us a lot of grief, and we would probably be sitting on a much larger bank account now had we left.

It’s funny to watch so many, including Tim Bourret, act like this was some particularly egregious officiating. My only guess with Tim was that he seemed particularly put off by the technical and that just amplified everything from there. But this was not even close to one of the 5 worst officiated games ever. I think we got the short end of the stick yesterday. Nearly every single Tobacco Road game we played in the 80s and 90s was worse. They just usually took us out of the game so early and dramatically that we don’t get to be heartbroken in the end. The officiating in the Purnell 2OT UNC game in 2008 was probably the most egregious - in that they were completely, shamelessly obvious in what they were doing. But nothing touches the raw aggression shown toward Barnes’ teams for daring to not accept the role of Washington Generals to the rest of the ACC.
We play an aggressive brand of basketball this season. I figured once we hit the conference slate officiating would be much worse than it had been.

...especially the part about the goaltending and technical foul debacle, magnifying everything from there.
Like I said though (and you pointed out), just tired of it and I hate the ACC.

Anyone remember the game with one of those teams where

Bobby Conrad came down court and planted both feet just inside the circle near the foul line and did not move a muscle and the other team's player dribbled the length of the court and plowed right into him and the refs called blocking instead of a charge? That was years ago and the vision is still burned in my memory bank.( minus the memory of which team it was)
