If you offer any sort of dissent towards Dabo and the coaching staff the only logical conclusion is you want him fired, clearly.

in Dabo.
That doesn't concern me in terms of Dabo leaving, but it does concern me that he and his agent would try to use that as leverage to get a raise and/or extension. I would hope that Neff would say no, but I have my doubts that Clemson has the balls to do that.

That situaiton happened at UK with John Calipari..

UCLA showed serious interest and it forced UK to do something drastic...which was a "lifetime" contract...things only continued to get worse with results, mocking fans and a disconnect...which ended with the situation of him going to Arkansas.

UF Would never hire Dabo. Bad fit. What ipeople don’t realize is his stock isn’t that high right now outside of Clemson. Alabama would never hire Dabo either.
This isn’t meant to be a put down on CDS It’s just the reality

Florida's Admin, AD, and Big Boosters are in dire straits.Last four coaches ( 3 Ms and 1 N ) have been disaster hires. Florida wants a proven winner as its next head football coach. I still believe the door is open for a possible Coach Swinney hiring at Florida.

Then that would be a fourth bad hire in a row.
Dabo has lost the program and it’s now evident for anyone outside Clemson to see.

No..you are wrong--no offense. I'm a booster and season tix holder there as well. Dabo has ZERO chance to get that job.
His rep outside of Clemson isn't high right now. HIs dislike of portal is very well known. If you can't win big in the ACC RIGHT NOW...what makes anyone think he would win with UF's sched???????

He hasn't earned a raise at this point. Winning the ACC alone wasn't what he received his existing contract for. Truly I don't know, what the market is for Dabo. Up to this point, he hasn't shown he is willing to fully immerse himself in current state of College football. Ads are aware of what is occurring here for the last 5 seasons.

That brings up the Tommy Bowden to Arkansas leverage play-out. It's a whole new ballgame today with players in the driver's set at this point in time. College coaches agents are facing new era that will be testy and not the same ole ways are goin to work anymore if schools pay due delegance and limit extensions and large payouts. For example no more Texas A&M contracts via Jimbo Fisher.

Heck, no, I don't want Dabo fired! Things have changed in college football--- NIL, in particular has made college football much like pro football. Why do you think Nick Saban left Alabama? Five years ago, recruiting was about the coaches, facilities, recent team records. The culture was high on the list. Saban and Dabo were great recruiters in that scenario. Dabo is a man of character, Christian, compassionate, easy to like. He recruits the mothers and grandmothers. Now, NIL has put those characteristics behind money for many players and families. Do you want players who have character and that aren't arrested every weekend or do you want players who drive in exotic cars and have to go to court regularly? It is hard to find excellent football players willing to work hard with thousands (millions?) of dollars in their pockets. I realize many fans think Clemson is able to outspend all of the other colleges--- that just isn't so. Clemson is behind just about every SEC school and the Oregons and Ohio States of the NCAA. We are outside the Top 25 fan-based programs in money. Oregon has almost $1,000,000,000 in NIL money. Things have changed in recruiting and it is making it more difficult for Dabo and Clemson. But Dabo is still a great coach and the right coach for Clemson.

I disagree with your premise. We've had a ton of issues with our players. Look at Deshaun. Derion Kendrick. Demonte also had an illegal gun. Fred Davis ruined a woman's life and should have gone to prison but didn't even get a slap on the wrist. Ian Schieffelin had DUIs last summer. Yes, UGA is probably worse, but let's not pretend our players are choir boys. Also, you're objectively wrong about NIL. We are top 25 in spending on NIL. You know who's not? Georgia Tech.
But here's the simple fact. Dabo is the highest paid SC employee. He's paid to win. That's it. We can hire a lot of Christian men of character for $12 million a year.

Deshaun was never in trouble at Clemson. Kendrick was shown the door (let him save face though). Ian wasn’t even on the football team last summer. That’s your list from fifteen years of Dabo and it’s half ########.

College football is a business plan and simple. Head coaches are payed exorbitant salaries based on their successes on the field. Dabo is payed his salary based on his previous winning pedigree. If he was a perennial 9-4 coach he would be compensated as such. However, he cashed in when his success was greatest, and at that point he had earned it. However, lets not pretend he's compensated because of graduation rates or any other side stories. Those are great media fodder, but at the end of the day the wins and losses are what matters. Dabo is compensated because his historical record says he gets results. However, the current trend of the program does not reflect this compensation. If we can't afford to play with the big boys in terms of NIL I can accept that. We shouldn't however be stuck paying like the big boys for a coaching salary that reflects mediocrity and losses to the likes of Syracuse. Look at the roster and expected attrition. This situation will get worse before it gets better. These are problems created by Dabo. This salary has the ability to age as poorly as Jimbos did at Texas A&M. The only difference...we can't afford to buy it out.

No. A couple trolls tried to get traction. If anything, Dabo, out of nowhere opened the can of worms. And why? He was trying to get his team fired up. Nothing more, nothing less. It's his go to coachspeak.

I don't think it was about getting his players' attention as much as it was not being able to handle criticism. I should say, perceived criticism, since Dabo doesn't read comments from the outside.

They haven't recovered. We can't afford the buyout. We need to save for the buyout of the ACC.
However, if Dabo decides the retire or leave to go take another job, I wouldn't cry and be worried. His position would be coveted by many and we would have some excellent candidates.
Everyone should see that something is not working like it needs to be to compete in the Playoffs. That is what everyone wants. Last year was as close as we have gotten since TL, but we weren't built to go any farther. I don't think we are this year, and next year doesn't look promising.
Change of some kind has to happen to get there again. I don't profess to know how to do it. That's why his job pays big $.

I'm sorry to say that we are past the point of no return. We are 3 years too late to the party. It's 11:59 pm and Cinderella is getting ready to turn into a pumpkin and the horses into mice. Clemson was at 11 pm last year, 10 pm in 2024 and 9pm in 2023. Dabo kept being headstrong ad wouldn't listen. Now he's got Clemson turned into a lower tier ACC team.

If Dabo is not happy at Clemson I would rather him make a change that is better for him and his family. He has raised the bar at Clemson. The money is good but if he is not happy money will not change that. There are programs everywhere that would love to have him.

I don't want to continue paying him $12 million for mediocre results and getting curb stomped by every Top 25 team we play. I don't want to continue paying his underqualified and incompetent friends and family. I'm sick and tired of treating him like he's bigger than Clemson and bigger than the state of South Carolina. I don't give a #### about the cult pretending he's this wonderful Christian man and thus deserves the same pay as ~75 professors. Clemson is a school. The football team is secondary.
I want to cut his pay. He's not worth it any more. His winning 7 years ago doesn't mean he gets to collect a massive paycheck forever. If he doesn't like it, then yes, I want him gone.

I dont want him fired, I just want him to resign. If fired Clemson would have to pay his remaining salary. That would handicap us for years. Until proven otherwise, I will continue to believe college football has passed him by.

People who want him fired have no legitimate replacement candidate to name. And the second that candidate struggled the same calls would happen and the cycle goes on and on… à la Nebraska post-Solich!

Yes. I appreciate everything that Dabo has done for Clemson, but it's time for a change. We need a coach who's willing to adapt and embrace the current landscape of College Football.

If he leaves I hope it would be on his accord so that the fanbase can give him a proper send off, and so that the last memory of him at Clemson wouldn’t be him being fired. I hope that he accepts that it’s either time to do something else or entirely change his philosophy. While I know that some people believe he can adapt, I do not seeing how strong he is in his beliefs and how deep he has dug himself into them through his actions and comments. If it’s a choice between him being fired and our program turning into a .500 level program for the foreseeable future, I don’t think there’s a choice there

I don’t want him fired. I want him to go away, like quit, so we don’t have to pay him the $60mm buyout.
If he won’t walk away, Clemson can’t afford to fire him.
Dabo has made this mess because of his poor, sometimes arrogant, decisions, over the last few years. And he’s so stubborn and arrogant he won’t be able to admit he’s been wrong and change course to try to correct all his blunders.

Dabo just needs to get off the loyalty thing and make some changes in the coaching ranks. 1st off give riley the boot. He's in over his head. Since 2010 the Tigers are the 3rd winning establishment team in ncaa. Only behind Alabama and Ohio state which half the big 10 teams are cupcake teams.lol I think the offense is feeling the pressure and playing to tight Especially Cabe. Alot of that is coming from riley inability to coach at this level.

No. But I do think he needs to get some help figuring out how to motivate these Gen Z’ers and their coaches. I’ve never seen a Clemson team so mediocre from a playing standpoint and coaching has an impact on that. But either the players don’t like somebody on the team and are laying down or they just want to collect the check and go home.
And the coaches need some sort of fire lit under their butts, too. If I was Dabo I would have had the team running laps before going into the tunnel.
There’s no discipline on this team (a few exceptions allowed Will Heldt for example) and honestly it appears no accountability. I’d sit most of the starters for a while if only to impress upon them that their NFL grading and tapes are hard to improve on the bench.
And while Klubnik is whining about players falling down for fake injuries and saying he’s unbreakable I’d rather he hit an open receiver with a pass.
So no don’t fire Dabo ‘cause football coaches are like a box o’chocolates, you never know what you’ll get. See Riley, Allen, Rumph and Luke.
At least Dabo knows what tackling and blocking are even if he can’t get anyone on the field to do it. The other coaches (and some of their predecessors) don’t seem to know how to or teach it.
I believe that Dabo can make the changes or he will do like Saban and bow out due to frustration. My guess is that Dabo’s competitive nature will take over and he will fix it. Maybe not this year (unless Jeff Scott is a mid-season hire) but soon. As much as we don’t like losing Dabo likes it even less. But as we saw this week, his normal antics to rev up the team DID NOT WORK. Where does he go from here?
The little question is will sticking to his vaulted culture and aversion to the portal make this too heavy of a lift?
The bigger question is can Dabo’s belief and values translate to the new landscape or is he willing to do something I’m not sure he is comfortable with, change.

I love Dabo. But quitting will not help. He has nowhere to go unless he changes. College football in this era has just gone to #### as far as I'm concerned. A bunch of kids crying whose college degree is getting paid for is causing this? Neither Dabo nor Saban thought so. So, Dabo is faced with changing his beliefs or losing. I am personally on Dabo's side, but everyone else seems to think it's OK for CFB to take this route and become a mini-NFL. I do not. Keep in mind that before NIL and the rest of this garbage, that Dabo won two CFB national championships. The system is broken, and it will just get worse. Don't blame it on Dabo.

Who you going to hire? Maybe a ex NFL coach like the tarholes. Running a coach off who has won 2 national championships may affect any other coach wanting to come.

I do. I'm also realistic. Neither Clemson nor Dabo will allow this to happen. Clemson can't afford to buyout Dabos contract, and Dabo realistically wont walk away from the money owed to him. As such, we're stuck in this predicament. Dabo's status as a Clemson legend is irrefutable. However, to turn a blind eye to the current downward trend of the program is naive and ignorant. The current state of the program lies at Dabos feet. I would not be surprised to see key roster pieces decide to transfer or redshirt as this season is already a lost cause and we are approaching the limit on redshirt appearances. Additionally, given the amount of graduating starters on the roster, we could very well be in for a roster that wont allow for much success and a bigger needed rebuild in the coming years. Big picture: this was supposed to our year, and we blew it. The quick fix, embrace the portal and embrace it big. Otherwise, we continue to follow the current mantra and bet against the rest of college football. Based on Dabos history and stated intentions this makes this overhaul seem unlikely.
It stinks to see our greatest coach in program history tarnish his legacy, but they way I see it it goes one of 2 ways. 1) Dabo reverses himself and embraces the now professional world of college sports. Or..2) He sticks to his guns and we continue to brag about 2015-2020 while being irrelevant in the present.

Yes. He deserves a spot in tbe ring of honor, but his chapter as the leader of Clemson football has ended. Nothing lasts forever. His huge mistake, although we'll intended, was hiring all of his former players and friends. It's simply too much inexperience on a staff. It's time for him to go. If he truly loved Clemson, he would admit these missteps and negotiate an exit. His Pride simply want allow that. Clemson leadership must give him a lawful directive and when he refuses, you terminate him for insubordination. It's actually pretty simple

A couple more recruiting cycles that have us out of the top 20 like this last class, and a new coach won't have anything to work with. Then we'll be wandering aimlessly in the desert like we did in the 90s.
With that said, if he recognizes he needs to get with the times in this new era of CFB, then give him that chance.
