On the podcast this week we had a brief conversation about most hated teams for clemson fans. For me it was:

2. Georgia
3. NC State

NC State fans are annoying but fairly inert overall. Georgia - meh. Annoying now but often not really a consideration because of their 40+ year hibernation.

1) Jawja - having lived in SC, FL, AL, and GA...Georgia has the absolutely most ignorant, obnoxious, and fair-weather fans of any to of these places. This is why I have them number 1.
2) Bama - their fans are obnoxious, but it's been so long since the Shula years so they have forgotten how bad they sucked. They are 2 because they at least can support their obnoxious attitudes with results.
3) Coots - yes they should be #1 strictly because they are instate rivals...but are they really rivals? And sure they are as stupid and obnoxious as Dawg fans, but strangely enough, it doesn't bother me. In fact I think I enjoy it. It makes me laugh and further cements them as completely pathetic.

When I was a student at Clemson during the 60's, one of the sports writers for the Greenville News made this appropriate comment. "Clemson fans enjoy beating Georgia the most, but they hate loosing to South Carolina the most."

Attitude is everything.
The coots are laughably pitiful, so I kind of halfway enjoy their delusional behavior.
I don't like some UGA fans' attitudes, but I'd a 1000X rather see them successful than Bama.
In the ACC is kind of dislike NCSU, but don't consider them a true rival. IMO, we don't have any true rivals in the ACC. The GT thing is historical and kind of made up. FSU was a rival when they were higher on the food chain.

I live amongst VT fans and my wife was in Human Resources at VT till they made her retire because of Covid. The fans gave me alot of grief when I first moved to the area, but they've been pretty quiet after 5 beat downs in a row.

Start with ND, which used every parish in the nation as a recruiting base. 'Play for ND or go to Hades.' Maybe not so much now but I'm 70 yrs old and have a accurate memories.
USCw, it, along with Texas, Michigan, OSU, and many other SEC teams which the media has pumped into the top ten year after year during the BCS era. Now the playoff committee slaps them down and the media spends the entire off season pumping them back to the top.

There is a back story for my dislike of anything Nan-Cee Stank; so keep that in mind.
1. Nan-Cee Stank. Fans, Coaches, Players,Alumni, staff, record label and the whole mtf crew. all them.
2. Scar. The wolfpack of the sec. with less history.
3. O 1-4 O State. Bunch of whiners that needed a asterik to finally beat Clemson. Their coach hit a Clemson player and that retired his legendary butt. Another of their legends was retired by Clemson as well(Meyer).
4. N. Carolina. mostly because some of their alums try to call shots at the ACC home office and seem to have an issue with anything Clemson.
5. Georgia.

Nerds....My whole time growing up, we went to Atlanta for a drumming and a paycheck. \
My 13th birthday, 9/28/1963 (Kennedy had less than 2 months left) my folks drove me from Seneca to Atlanta in a rain storm that did not quit from left to return.
We got whacked by a qb i think was Hanratty. We did not win until my freshman year of 1969...

Coots- some things never change
Georgia - This goes back decades to the rivalry
FSU - same as Georgia but not as old. resentment grew stronger
as every year since their acceptance into the ACC they whipped us annually
for what seems like a decade maybe longer.
OhioSt- this goes back to when Woody slugged Bauman. Unforgiveable.
Maryland - yep Maryland. they were a thorn in our side in the '70s
Ans later when Friedgen became the HC they beat us 7 out of 10 years I believe.
Miami - just don't like em. never have.
NCST - they were pretty good during the Sheridan (great guy) years
And now Doreen ( polar opposite )

Auburn- they think they're us

Really irks me that they are overrated annually
And my bigger issue is their refusal to play out of Florida in out of conference games
It’s ABSURD we haven’t played a home and home with them
I get the disdain for ND, but at least they historically TRY to play decent teams
SCar??? I’m telling you, outside of Spurrier years, they’ve been largely irrelevant. I don’t get the disdain for a program that’s historically and currently not an issue. It’s like harboring hate for Furman.

Anyone who was at the Notre Dame game in 1977 would have to have them at or very near the top of any list of teams they despise. As far as fan bases go the worst I’ve seen (by far) would have to be Maryland. I was at the 1978 game at College Park and it was the only time I’ve ever feared for my safety at a game.

old enough to know their full history! In 1983, after we were put on two years probation by the NCAA, UNCheat pushed for and got the ACC to add a third year of probation...spearheaded by that ##### Swofford.
Then they have the nerve, 30 years later, to spend millions in legal fees to get out of any penalties for all their fake classes!
I would have to say UNCheat and Usuc are #1 and #1A on my list of the most hated!

I think mine is influenced by the fans of the teams --was at Clemson in the 80s- - hence UGA being on the list -
1. 31-Ohio bucknuts - - their fans were obnoxious bullies at last couple bowl games
2. UGH-AH - red neck has their picture in the dictionary
3. chix-lose-a - what would a list really be like without them?
4. wolfpups - they are who turned us in in the 80s...and their fans wow!
5. uncheat- two sets of rules for sure with them

Always hate the Coots! Actually I hate their fans that never went to college there but yet pull for them and say the dumbest chitterlings! My aunt, not from SC (Iowa) never went to college in SC, has a "Fav" nephew that graduated from Clemson, is a Carolina fan because her neighbors are Coot fans but they never went to Cootville either. The wife neighbor, her father was a big booster at Cootville so he took them to games and my aunt and uncle became a coot fan. Zero affiliation but man they can say some dumb chit!! All while they don't pull for Clemson where they do have some affiliation, they try to rib me about Coots vs Clemson but they aimlessly embarrass themselves most the time.
2) O31O St.
3) Used to be Miami and they still linger up there as they suck and have only drug the ACC down. I actually swallowed pride and looked forward to Miami joining to make ACC stronger, wrong!! I hated FSU in the Punt-Rooskie era but hard to hate a team that can't beat WF for several yrs.
I think #3 is a multitude of who hurt that stature of my beloved tigers recently. Like Pitt, LSU, etc.
Actually NC St has to take #3 with ole Dave Dor there!

I’m kinda surprised to see GT on these lists. Yes they are our ACC other division rival, but I don’t see a ton of bitterness between fans like NCST or UNCheat for ACC hate.

ALL teams are "disliked" teams with Uof7C and UGA at the top of the list. The only time another team is acceptable is during the Spring Game when it's all Tigers - Orange and White.
