It means that Joe Biden has committed tax fraud by receiving gifts (taxable if over a certain modest amount), whereas he categorized the money as a loan repayment.
Bank records are the hammer by which all of this evidence is coming to light.
When cross referenced with his tax returns, his criminality will be confirmed.
Look, I'd love it if something dinged Biden - and his wingchick, Kamala Harris, who is lurking in the wings like Pennywise from It - enough that he doesn't run again, because that is absolutely playing with fire...
...but a grainy Xerox of a piddlysh!t 40K check ain't going to be the thing that does it. Come up with another 50 of these, prove their authenticity and relevance, and show Joe didn't list them on his financial disclosures and you'd maybe be onto something.
On its own, though, this is a pretty inconsequential Slow News Day page 9 sideshow (at best) that will interest only the derpiest and most dedicated of Fox News viewers that will not move the needle so much as a twitch in either direction.
This isn't a smoking gun. It isn't even a smoking kid's cap gun.
Dude, I've written and received checks larger than that myself. Probably most of the people on this board have.
You need way more than that to get a president impeached, much less convicted of a crime later...and if the GOP goes on something like this they won't just go down in flames they'll wind up looking ridiculous to every independent like me in America. This isn't even a blip.
And I'm a gettable independent. I voted GOP every election except for my first one when I voted Perot in '92 and this last one in 2020 when I (very reluctantly) pushed the button for Joe...and I'd vote for Nikki Haley in a second over Biden. I personally think Hunter Biden is emblematic of the circle of hangers-on and parasites and general grift that clings to professional politicians who have been in office way too long. (We The People were never supposed to have professional politicos in this country at all.) But this is past the point of being small-time and penny-ante and it screams "We Got Nothin'" that the MAGA GOP is clutching at miniscule BS like this.
Again, come up with 50 of these and prove they're legit and were not reported correctly - that third part is key - and you'd probably be onto something. Biden is not a populist like Trump is - you need charisma, a personality, or a pulse to do populism and Biden has none of those. He also directly released his financials to the public and put his name and signature on it...if Joe was stupid enough to falsify them and gets caught at it he's done.
You aren't close to that yet. Sorry. You just aren't.
Biden should produce checks showing the original loan by him, if so-totally clears this up. If this is a gift, gift taxes were not paid and that is a big big tax violation.
The $40,000 check is significant, but not because the amount on the check.
The trail of money as it passed from CEFC to shell company to shell company to shell company to Jim & Sara Biden’s personal checking account to Joe Biden himself is where it gets interesting.
There is a hilarious aspect of the money laundering; something simple that the Clintons would NEVER be so stupid to do.
A little background. Several of the shell companies had extremely low bank account balances. The ultimate ‘loan repayment’ from Sara & Jim Biden to Joe was only for $40,000. The original money transfer from this one payment from CEFC was ~ $150,000.
When the initial $150,000 payment hit the first shell company’s bank, that $150,000 represented the large majority of funds in the account. When the incrementally lower funds amount got transferred to the second shell company, that smaller amount nevertheless represented the large majority of funds in that second shell company. Etc, etc, etc. Finally, Sara & Jim Biden’s personal checking account got $50,000 from an upstream shell company; Sara & Jim must have been tight on funds and had next to nothing in their account. Sara & Jim kept $10,000 for themselves and sent Joe $40,000.
The Biden ‘financial network’ is run by such hand to mouth dummies that apparently none of them thought to keep a baseline of ~ $250,000 in each shell company’s bank account. By endowing each shell company’s account with only a few nickels and dimes, the movement of money is childishly easy to track.
To borrow from a line from the old GEICO commercial, ‘so easy that a Republican congressman can do it.’
(***). As for impeachment, it is remotely possible. I don’t think that there will be enough Republican congressmen to vote to impeach Biden, such is their frantic fear that a Trump presidency will ruin the congressional graft + insider trading schemes that so enriches all congressional representatives. But maybe the House will beat the odds and impeach Biden. With respect to conviction by the Senate, absolutely no chance.
Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.
