Vanderbilt doesn't have a softball team. Mizzou was left out. Every other SEC team made the tournament. That's 14 in total.

9 from the ACC, 8 from the BIG10, 5 from the BIG12. But there are 28 non power 4 teams in the field.

all the whining about the SEC on this board is ridiculous. Don’t lose to Missouri, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss and split with South Carolina if you want to change things. Yes we beat UT and UGA and split with South Carolina but overall that’s not a good showing against that conference. Meanwhile the Coots only lost to us in the ACC winning 7 games against ACC NCAA Tourney teams. The SEC does have more good teams in softball (like some other sports) than any other league.

Do you realize that we have only lost 6 games since Feb 15th, and just beat #5 FSU to win the ACC championship? Our other 6 losses were in the first 9 days of the season playing in two very tough tournaments away from home with basically a completely new group of girls other than 4 starting seniors and 2 starting sophomores. This team has gelled beautifully and deserved at least a #8 seeding. Meanwhile the hens lost 4 of their last 9 games in the last 2 weeks.

fight. I hope they are able to survive the regional and get to host a SR or give Texas a run if the Longhorns get by UCF etc. That said, the competition level is about to step up. You can’t discount the beginning of the season when it comes to seeding. We are seeded right about where we should be. We didn’t have the RPI, Q1 record to be a top 8. We needed some luck in addition to everything else to win the ACCT but we’ll take it. we’ll need some more of that to reach the WCWS but we have a chance as the tourney is more open this year with OU/OSU falling back down to earth As for the Coots, I think UCLA should have gotten the 8th seed but the Coots went 7-1 vs the ACC - all tourney teams. Only loss in extras to us. They won a non conf series vs TTU. They hardly lost non-conf. Yes they lost a series a couple of weeks ago at Auburn - a tourney team but they were 3-1 against Bama in the last week and their last loss was to the #1 overall seed. UVA is capable of giving them a run as they lost 2 close ones to the Coots to start the season. Elon is also tricky.

There is more parity in softball now more than ever - hopefully that plays in our favor. Missing the elite pitcher that the teams that go far usually have but hopefully we find a way to scrap for some wins like we did this weekend.

The difference between our baseball team and softball team is our softball team found their groove later. They had some kinks to workout. We finished the year beating SC, Tennessee, FSU and won the ACC. This is not the same team from the first half of the season. These girls are red hot and can beat anyone on the country.

they figured out how to game all the top sports..in a few years they will have 4 plus the three at large football playoff spots. giving them 7 every season
