Back in days gone by (actually years) I remember when ACC announcers were Billy Packer and Jim Thacker on Raycom Sports. Use to love to despise Maryland and Lefty Driesell. You could really follow your team for years especially how they progressed from Freshmen (it once was Freshmen couldn't play on the Varsity) to Seniors as the chemistry would get better.

Unlike today when you have one and done and NIL and highest bidder gets the best players the olden days seemed a lot better.

Naturally this makes sense to me since I'm part of the olden crowd.

The same goal from then till now to the future is still the same.

Back then I could name starting line ups for every team. Now I can’t tell you one player in the ACC beside Clemson’s and Flagg.

Yes, there was something special about having a 9 team league. In comparison to today, each school Clemson played had its own version of a rivalry.

While playing each time twice and players staying in school longer, we all got to know each team pretty well.

Maryland has never been the same since leaving the ACC but that was fun school to watch back in the day and Clemson had some great games with them.
