Coach Caldwell and the staff otherwise must recruit multiple linemen every season. This circumstance is not typical, but it points to the need for OL/DL depth annually.

I don't have the faintest idea about the #### OL, MCB, but

Clemson has had a crazy amount of attrition over the last few years due mostly to injury.
Speaking of OL, will yours be good enough to win 5 games?

We've lost a lot to injury as well as Shaq Anthony and Battle. We lost Oliver Jones to career ending injury plus a couple others. If we hadn't lost Battle and DeStefano we would be a little deeper.

We signed 4 in 2012, 2 in 2013 and 2 in 2014.
That's substantially less than most.
That's less than 3 per year.
With injuries and out nd out misses - That's not optimal.

I agree that we should have probably made more effort in 2014 to sign another OL, but we have truly just had really bad luck too. Because on your list you left off Joe Gore, Jerome Maybank(3 star just never worked out), DJ Reader was actually a OG recruit, and a 2 star in 2012-Josh Brown.
2011- 6 or 7 Battle technically was 2011, Region and Maybank just could cut it 2012- 4 0r 6 Battle made it after Fork Union, DJ Reader moved to DL, Josh Brown couldn't cut it 2013- 2 Morris and Crowder only 2, but we already had 15 or 16 on scholarship before these two 2014- 2 Hearn and Falcinelli, our downfall we should have reruited at lease one more. 2015- 4 and 4 studs all 4 and 5 stars at that so we are getting back on track

as a DL[2 star] and most felt he was a huge hope and prayer, which turned out to be the case.
i put shatley and mcclain there even though both were signed in other spots, but the staff found them a home on the OLine which they should get credit for doing. gore should have been included with those 2 as they found him a home at tackle as well, but he was signed at de.
i put battle in 2012, because he had to go prep and was counted against the 2012 class.
most D1 programs seem to carry 15-17+ OL on scholarship. we've been unlucky, yes, but also short with back to back 2 OL cycles.
it seems they're addressing it, i hope so anyway.

yeah, i didn't really miss him as he was signed as a defensive tackle and played there before moving to O. you're right though, he was about as good as it gets.
i did want to acknowledge mcclain & shatley[and gore] because they probably had an impact on numbers signed. i don't 'magine i'll take the time to do that for each acc team, but maybe...

A lot of it points to the fact that our admin needs to get down off its high and mighty academic nonsense and start allowing JUCO transfers. JUCO transfers in essence give you almost 1/3rd more scholoarhips on the line. We do not get to see the benefits from this that Most SEC schools and some ACC schools do.

12 OL on the roster. 12 bodies to work with, I see a lot of gutting it out this year, and the youth definitely needing to come through. I think Caldwell sees this as a challenge, as does his OL.
Crowder Falcenelli Hearn Morris Guillermo Norton Gore Hyatt Fruhmorgen Green Giella McClain
Starting five: Hyatt Crowder Norton McClain Gore
Guillermo Falcenelli Morris Hearn Green Fruhmorgen Giella (prob wont redshirt)

Giella plays center and has a lot of work to do and will Definitely redshirt.. Noah was heading for a redshirt but perhaps because of the Battle situation might travel and perhaps not redshirt? Hyatt and Fruhmorgen will play game one... We need to recruit tackles big time.. Any injuries to one of our tackles is trouble.. Gore is not dependable and actually missed half of spring.. I see Hyatt and Fruhmorgen actually ending up starting together at some point this year.

for the life of me i just cant figure out how we won 42 games the last 4 years. our coaches dont know who or how many to recruit. if only the wimmen on this board were doing our recruiting there would be no problems. this board is PATHETIC AND AN EMBARRASSMENT TO CLEMSON

You do realize that we only have 85 schollies total, don't you! If you divide by 5 (red-shirt year) you have 17 per year. If we divide equally between offense and defense, that makes 8.5 for the offense. Now look at all the positions on offense that we need to fill, QB, RB, line, TE, etc. then you see the problem. When you figure that each team will lose some guys to academics, injury, personal stuff, and legal issues, it is a miracle that we have enough to line up each year. The coaching staff at Clemson does a phenomenal job of having the team ready to play on opening day!

the OL so it seems to me 4 a year is not out of line at all, but we do take more than 17 a year average and we haven't been taking 4 a year on the OL. We've got 6 RB for one spot, maybe we can teach them to block

Strikes me that we would do well to average two per year for OL recruiting. Don't forget we were hacked off last year that we had two busted up qb's to work with by the time attrition took its toll.

he should have said something previous to having one guy leave. An injury would have put us exactly were we are had we not lost a player.
