And don’t need to look to the portal there.
Sorry - I don’t buy that.
The ACC championship win was great, but I’m not letting one game against the worst defense in the ACC trick me into believing we are all hunky dory at WR. And if you believe Dabo (and I do), their play was a significant contributor to DJ’s lack of success this year.
We had 11-12 other games where this position group just did not perform up to Clemson WR standards. Yeah we had big issues at QB, but the issues at WR were right there with it.

Our Talent level is down because the Tee and Sammy type players are getting big $ NIL offers which we cant match. Sure we can do a better job of development but the thought that Jeff Scott can come on board and make someone on our roster perform like Sammy is silly at best.

Our issue isn't recruiting, it's developing that talent and putting that talent in position to excel.

Hey, we may have a WR or two decide they want to come to Clemson now that they know DJ will no longer be the QB, I mean it could help us pick up a WR that wasn't considering us with DJ as QB!!!

Kept on waiting for the kid to show out and it never happened. I’m willing to chalk a lot of that up to the knee, lost time, and bad qb play, but man, seemed like every time I saw 8, he was failing to haul in a catchable ball and looking for a flag. And I’m thinking, dang, you’re huge dude. Don’t leave it up to the refs. Use that big body and your hands and make the play! Really want this kid to work out and be more of a mike williams than a ngata or ladson or ajou

I saw Randall playing more Defense trying to prevent INT's. When Randall was receiving props at summer practices, it was Klubnik throwing him the ball so expect better things in 2023.

Adam is going to be the go to guy like Mike Williams, he missed his development period this summer/early season.
His speed will return and he will develop greatly!
This kids going to put fear in all the CB’s, because they have to battle him and then try to tackle him.

If we can just keep that group relatively healthy at the same time. My goodness; teams that don't have our depth "still don't have this bad of luck with keeping healthy players available"!
It's hard to say if we missed on these guys or not when they are always in the training room.
Ngata - numerous injuries.
E.J. Williams - "" ""
Stallato - injured.
Ladson - stayed hurt.
B. Collins - multiple injuries so far.
Spector - health issues.
A. Randall - acl - but just a freshman so we good there.
And, I know I am missing a few! We just need availability as a "ability"!

I think the article said we have 10 guys on scholarship at WR, and that’s how many we normally have.
I agree we are far from good at Wide Reciever. But we don’t know how good next year will be. We have 3 players coming in and I expect our 3 freshmen to take big steps forward. Collins and Ngata have shown flashes but need to improve. That puts us at 8.
I think Will Taylor will leave for Baseball. That leaves Stellato, who’s been dealing with injuries. Maybe he comes back maybe he doesn’t I’m not privy to that information.
So all in all I’d expect Clemson to want 1 or 2 more wide receivers. If we do get them through the portal they need to do more than just full depth unlike what we are looking for at RB or QB.
Nothing to do with that information but just wait and see.

Will Taylor may concentrate on baseball, but I don't see him giving up the full ride scholarship he has now. Most baseball players only get a 1/3 or 1/2 scholarship.

Wide receiver talent needs to be 2 deep. They are often running 20/30 yards downfield even when the play is a run to the side of the field opposite them. The 2nd team should be called 1A. The other position group that has this problem is the DL.
When Danny ran the 3/4 defense he had 9 guys he could play.

With our history of injuries at the position, you can never have enough IMO.

I agree. We have to find a way to keep these kids healthy. That's been one of the biggest things in terms of the WR room.

We are ok at wide receiver because we NOW have a QB that can get the ball to a receiver. So yes I believe we are good at wide receiver.
