While I kind of agreed that 5* RBs don't want to run behind bad OLs. Many said this is why Bama and then UGA always get some the best RBs.
If that is true then we shoukd have some topnotch RBs ready to knock on our doors. While Davidson may prove to be a stud, I can't help to point out that we are converting WR's to RBs. Those other schools did not have to convert players.
Our RB recruiting has fallen since CTE left, our OL future looks bright and I dont see RBs excited about Clemson. I think Dabo needs to challenge Spiller's ability to bring in top talent which I am sure he knows but we seem to have missed recent yrs.
I hope all this good OL news translates. Will be valuable when we break in a new QB in upcoming seasons.

You mean Davidson, I mentioned that above. He was not a 5* but I do think he will be good. But we have had a string of 3* RBs or ATH that were recruited and some last minute over past 3yrs.
I hope we see the top 5 RBs looking at Clemson.

I do believe Dabo has seen the light in HS recruiting but still have to get top talent excited about their position coach. Coach Luke proves this point without a doubt.

We have a number of relatively highly ranked RBs on the roster. If none of them turn out to be very good that may be another issue but we are bringing in guys who should be able to get on the field. Besides it's not like we have a long history of bringing in 5 star RBs anyway.

Spiller, Harper, Ellington, Bowman, ETN, Feaster were all rated 5* or high 4*. I am sure I am missing a couple through the era. We have had a 5* with a couple of 4*s on the staff for many yrs.

Well with NIL nowadays, you start to interchange paid players as staff. But you know what I meant, be a TEAM player here!

Last years two running backs are definitely on par with our historic recruiting at the position if not ahead, but only the future will tell. Bowman was a 5*, but never a factor. Feaster was a 5*, and became a number 2 back not a number 1. Etienne was a fall back recruit when he signed with us, and greatly out played that. I say all this to say Spiller earned some time with his recruiting last year, but to pretend we have ever been a perennial strong recruiter at running back is a significant stretch.

I agree we don't have anyone at Spillers level on the roster but we do have some four star guys. Doesn't mean theyll ever be any good but there's still time.

We will start to land big time RBs soon. I think Gideon is going to be an elite back but also we have only had luke one year. I think recruits want to see continued success and improvement in our Oline play/recruiting which Luke is doing. After a few years of Luke and continued successful Oline recruiting, the RBs will come. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is the perception of our line. Once we start putting linemen in the league, you will see a change! Go Tigers!!!

A great OL will make many RBs way better. With a ‘get in the way’ blocking OL talent/scheme, you have to have an outstanding RB.

Btw Gideon Davidson was rated higher than ETN. Gideon he was a top 3 RB composite and top 70 overall. He wasn’t some high 3 star/low 4 star guy, he was a high 4 star.

Yep, mentioned him in second paragraph. He was rated higher but fell due to injury then recovered some standings. I am excited about him. EZ may prove to be a stud as well being a high 3*, low 4*.
But many ppl often asked why we dont land elite RBs, and we definitely struggled for a few yrs, but many blamed the OL. Well now that is fixed, should we see these top RBs finf interest in Clemson?

We were spoiled on ETN, he was a once-in-a-decade type of back. Shipley and Mafa were great, David Eziomume is a stud and Davidson is the real deal if you listen to the players and coaches.
Prior, Dabo's best RB recruit as a Head coach was Andre Ellington(08), then we went a long stretch without a stud in the backfield until Wayne Gallman in '13, then ETN in '17. Those are back to back 4 years stretches of filling in the roster with mediocre talent.
I would argue that we are recruiting this position better than any time during Dabo's career as HC. We will have to wait and see how well EZ and Davidson work out. But I think it is fair to say that Shipley and Mafa were every bit as good as SPiller and Davis, back when we had the best RB coach in the country in Burton Burns, who btw, did us a solid and steered ETN to us.

Agreed. Oftentimes it's what sets Georgia , Alabama and Ohio State apart from us
I'll tell ya what makes a bigger difference.
Winning national championships.
If we win it this year , they'll be knocking our door down.
