Anyone enrolled can be added to the team at anytime (within the roster limit). The roster isn't ever really "finalized". Kids have until August to enroll, I believe.
This is how we added Weitz mid-season when Gunn was struggling. He was enrolled, thus eligible to be added to the roster.

Anyone out of the stands would be an upgrade , have you watched our punting the last couple years ? Fact is we needed a punter , and Dabo refuses to admit it so we will go into a season with high expectations and once again be bottom of the college football landscape in punting . We were dead last in ACC and some still question if we need a punter??? lol

Hopefully you mean this ironically to make a point. Also the punter from last year is gone so you can't put those stats on a different kid
But my question still remains to the OP. Has anyone this worked up over a punter, who has yet to punt, gone in and looked to see if there is even one available that would be better than what we have? It seems the answer is a "no"
The portal isn't this magical device where we get to create-a-player to fill our need.

I looked at the portal at punter listing but there is no way to tell as there were no stats I could find

I can't find anything on a kid from Furman going to Duke this year. This is a kid who went from Furman to Duke last year...Ryan Leavy? But he was the back-up at Duke and at Furman his average ypp was less than ours was last year?

This is just criminal not to address the glaring need ! If you watched the punters at spring game and before and after , then you saw what a laughing stock we are at punter . Looked like peewee football players trying to punt . Dabo should be held accountable if he does nothing and it comes back to bite us . There is no way w can keep the current punters on team taking up spots when none of them can do the job ! Terrible roster management by Dabo !!!

You've been on this punting thing for months. Gotta give it to you, you really commit to a cause.
'Dead last' was last years team and last years punter. Aiden is gone. How is that on the current punter?
Also since this is your passion can you look at the portal and tell us which one is a clear upgrade over a kid you haven't seen punt yet in a real, live game? Then also please tell us which kid you are going to cut to make room.

This punting thing as you put it is important in case you aren’t aware of that . For a team with playoff expectations , going into the year without a punter is pretty careless and not even necessary . The guy we are counting on to punt is a career backup and couldn’t beat out Swanson last year , yet you think he is all of a sudden ready to punt for us in critical situations next year? Also any team that is trying to compete at the highest level does not carry several punters on the roster that can’t help the team. That is wasting spots that could be used for better players. As far as the portal, most all of them are upgrades over what we have now. This year when we are backed up and in need of a good punt to flip the field , make sure you remember that !

dude you just confirmed how clueless you are!! even a blind man can see that anything is an upgrade at punter yet you cant comprehend that we have a need despite being the worst in the ACC in punting. You cant argue with someone that cant understand that fact !!! make sure you are here still defending when we are booming 30-35 yard punts in crucial situations next year.

Oh I am not saying there is no reason for concern. My point was that there is a small group of people repeatedly saying we should go get a punter from the portal which leads to
1. What punters are even available
2. Of those available punters do we KNOW that one of them is better than what we have
3. What makes people believe it wasn't looked at
In general it seems to me there is no thought given to those, just reach into the portal and grab a kid as though the portal is this magic panacea for all positions at all times regardless of athlete's desire and operating on unknown facts
