Is it time for Clemson to leave the ACC?

I know it's not actually going to happen, but I've been waiting for the ACC to become a competitive conference for ages. Now little nobody liberty comes and beats Syracuse. That's bad but ok. Today liberty beats one of the better ACC teams in Virginia Tech. I know the SEC doesn't want us, but maybe the goofy Big Ten? The ACC has and will always be, a basketball only conference. Clemson should break away with FSU and a few others and start our own conference.

How does being in the ACC hurt Clemson?
Nov 7, 2020, 3:36 PM
|
|
Answer: it doesn’t.
The ACC is a great fit for us. It prepares us just fine for the playoffs.
Some of the once proud football programs will be better in the future. Plus, the ACC is already a great conference for other sports like basketball, baseball, soccer, etc.
Stop worrying about what other people think. The SEC can have their “big time football,” but that doesn’t mean squat at the end of the day.

Yes lots of great programs from the past but I see no evidence they are on the way back.

Nah, they’d beat half the teams in the sec too. Hugh did pretty good when he was in the sec before. ??

No. We just need to keep ND in the conference and ask Liberty to join to even things out.

The ACC isn't worth a plugged nickel

but I think Clemson should stay. The conference continues to serve it's purpose for the football program.
Honestly, all I care about is getting us set up for the CFP.

NO!
Silly coot, gamecocks left the ACC in 1971 and it has done wonders for coot Athletics.

The existing conferences will be blown up within 5 years anyway. Likely be a 65-70 team group broken into regions.

I'm afraid you're right about big changes in the next several years, after some players start making money from weird places.
Until then, Clemson should definitely not exit the ACC.
