You know it isn't a bad idea.
Basically, join with the B10 and create four divisions based on geography and prior historical rivalries.
West: Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Wisc, Minn, NW, Purdue
Midwest: ND, Ind, Mich, Mich St, OSU, Ped State, Pitt
East: Ped State, Rutgers, Maryland, BC, Cuse, UVA, VT,
South: Clemson, FSU, Miami, GT, Wake, UNC, NC STATE, Dook
I know the south has 8 teams but Wake/Duke only count as 1/2 of a team. Or you can expand with a few choice teams like Kansas to the West

The merger idea was mentioned here as well--interesting.
ND is not going to be happy in the same division as Michigan. (You should read the article on SI about ND/UM history.)

I thought about that, but realistically, they have played 7 times in the last 10 years, 15 of the last 20 and yes, there is some loveloss but still, rivalry none the less. ND beating michigan in 2012 and 2018 helped in a title push. Michigan should want to play them as they are the only rival the beat in the past 15 years
But I figured that ND would rather play against the mid-west rather than the western-mid-west/plains teams.

If the best of the BIG and ACC could be combined--meaning shed the dead-woeghts--this would be a marketable conference:
1.) Clemson
2.) Florida State
3.) Miami
4.) GT
5.) UNC
6.) NC State
7.) Virginia
8.) Virginia Tech
9.) Ohio State
10.) Penn State
11.) Michigan
12.) Michigan State
13.) Wisconsim
14.) Notre Dame
15.) Nebraska
16.) Whatever--let's say Illinois

Not bad, then the rest could become the new b12 or b16. Interesting to see that obviously their college boards and fans are saying the same thing about the B1G as we are about the SEC. Either way, one agreement seems to be it's gotta be bold to counter what the SEC would be.

Honesty our best play may be a merger with Big. I think we are headed to two powerful conferences. The Big will merger with ACC or PAC-12. You don’t won’t to be the odd group out. Unless ACC can attract two huge names it will probably go away.
