70%?

Apr 28, 2016, 8:32 AM

That's a lot more than I thought. Makes you wonder why the brilliant minds of Mel Kiper, Todd McShay and all the other "analysts" won't shut up about it.

If Mel, et. al. really knew as much about it as they think they do, they would be a GM of a pro team. Every year, I get amazed (a little amazed) by just how often wrong some of them are.

I would bet they are. If they weren't they would be on the sideline somewhere or in a GM office with their name on the door.

I bet Mel gets paid equal to or more than an NFL GM, and has

much better job security and less stress than an NFL GM.

Not saying he knows what he is talking about, but saying "if he did he would be a GM" is dumb.

I seriously doubt it, but if he does, he is way over paid.

What's the point of the article?

Apr 28, 2016, 10:41 AM

David, no disrespect here and I understand the NFL draft starts tonight but what's the purpose of writing about this? I'm not the only one speaking here but I want to win a national championship. And you're worried about Deshaun being prepared for the NFL draft? His draft stock will take care of itself, in the meantime I would like to see some articles about his chemistry with receivers, how the backups are pushing him to get better but for the love of god lets enjoy DW4 while we can.

Agree 100%. At Auburn, Fl St, and Tech. Lots of things to focus on as Tigers, not pros.

I agree!! Winning the National Championship should be the #1 goal! Whatever it takes!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It already is he number 1 goal.

Apr 28, 2016, 1:17 PM

Where did you get the idea that it isn't for the players and coaches?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You will get those articles as well. Needless complaining**

Absolutely correct. The other part of this article that isn't stated is that Clemson coaches are always coaching the players to play at the next level. This is a HUGE thing in recruiting, and we all know that recruiting is the lifeblood of the football program.

Re: What's the point of the article?

Apr 28, 2016, 2:31 PM [ in reply to What's the point of the article? ]

Absolutely, make sure that he is ready and more than prepared to do his job behind center at Clemson, and ### the NFL. Let the NFL do their job for their teams and QBs in the NFL. Our Clemson coaches should be doing their jobs for Clemson and Clemson only. It won't matter what our coaches teach him about NFL business in how they do things bc, the NFL coaches are going to change up about everything he was taught to do in college, and teach him to do it their way. They really don't care if DW4 has ever taken a snap under center, bc they will teach him to do it their way. The NFL only care is how very talented a young DW4 really is, and the work ethics that he possess. They may but I doubt it, ask Dabo if DW4 is smart enough to be taught the NFL way of doing things!!! But they will draft DW4 bc he has a strong arm that is more than capable of throwing long accurate passes. They know that he is capable of processing the play in an instant and do what is best in about every situation. They know how very talented DW4 is right now, and their only concerns will be, does he fit what they do in their system. Take what the broncos done with Peyton Manning, I believe that DW4 would fit well in a system like Denver done with Peyton, DW4 would be like having a younger Peyton in that system bc it relied on Peyton's accuracy and knowing where to put the ball. Peyton was a film study guru, and DW4 is smart enough, and more than capable of being like another Peyton Manning. So Streeter, get back to Clemson's way with DW4 before you screw him up. We will only have one more season with our NFL Franchise QB in a Clemson uniform!!! ???? ???? on DW4 becoming a Great NFL QB!!!

Re: New Story: Preparing Deshaun Watson for the NFL Draft

Apr 28, 2016, 3:06 PM

Uh, shouldn't the goal be to prepare DW to win a acc title and National title for Clemson? Frankly, Deshaun needs ALOT of work in the passing game. His streaks of under throwing or over throwing last year were maddening. His first int b's Alabama is another area. Not seeing that lurking db and throwing a flat ball, etc... Make no mistake, I love that kid but he needs at least two more years of development....at Clemson.....:)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is the goal. What makes you think otherwise?

Apr 28, 2016, 3:17 PM

They can walk and chew gum. You guys will complain about anything. Watson will have a huge year and will be the first pick in the draft as well. If we don't win it all, it will not be because Watson wasn't ready.

Isn't college all about preparing students for their future lives and careers? Also great publicity for Clemson if DW succeeds in the NFL.
