We can compare TL to DW all day. I see nothing wrong with comparing him to other QBs either though. I just mean that TL is a superior QB and is similar to Willy Korn. Korn ended his D1 career early. Tlaw is that type of QB that can win championships though.

Comparing Trevor Lawrence to Korn is done by a person who:
A) Does not actually remember Korn
B) Does not know much of anything about football
C) Is merely another coot trolling to get a reaction
Judging from the OP and his other responses in this thread I will go with answer C.

I could tell after watching the game on ESPN where Byrnes played that team from Ohio and later watching the Gaffney game that Korn was more than likely going to be a bust. I didn’t want him to be but I remeber telling people that I thought he was way overrated. Bentley made him look a lot better than he was. On the other hand Trevor Lawrence has the best high school film I’ve ever seen. We’ve already seen more phenomenal plays out of TL in the limited time he’s played than we were ever going to see out of Korn. You’re really off base with your comparison. I’m mean waaaay off base.

Korn was a bust tbh. Compared to Bentley he is superior though. I don't mean Korn is superior. Not at all. Korn is not even close I just mean that korn is similar. Similar in play style. The type of QB who can take us all the way. TLaw all the way.

Korn came in with a lot of hype. Lawrence came in with a lot of hype. Both QBs are Caucasian. Pretty much end of similarities.
Lawrence is much more talented- every analyst in college football recognizes TLs talent, whereas Korn’s Hype was much more local. Korn was supposed to be more dual threat with good arm strength, Lawrence is a phenomenal passer.
Korn got injured in his first game playing at Clemson and was never even the same as he was in high school. Lawrence has not been injured and appears to have improved every game so far. Hopefully there is never any injuries to TL that we could compare to Korn’s.
This doesn’t appear to be a good comparison at all. I’d rather see discussions regarding Lawrence to Whitehurst, Boyd, Watson etc. but TLs potential far exceeds even to these who had great careers at Clemson.

Excellent post and you are right. We will never know how good Korn could have been, because he was injured in his first game and never recovered healthwise. I’m really looking forward to watching this young man show everyone that he too can run if necessary, but he has the golden arm and displays it often. Prayers that TL never experiences the injuries Korn and many Tigers before him have experienced

In HS, if you watched the Gaffney/Byrnes game, the Gaffney QB was actually a better QB than Korn. Admittedly, I watched Korn in the 7-on-7 in Hoover AL, and he was by far the best QB on the field that day. Korn getting injured changed everything, so I don't see any way to compare Korn to TL now. Maybe DW4 to TL16. Just drop the Korn comparison and move on.

I think in expectations you can. Clemson was an average team when Korn arrived, so it was seen as a chance to be relevant in the ACC again. TL is a much higher recruit, but the bar is much higher 10 years later; we expect to remain nationally relevant.
