as a king maker rather than a candidate. If he endorsed a more traditional candidate and worked to bring his devotees into the fold for that candidate, that would be tough for Democrats to overcome.
But I don't think he has got it in him to be second fiddle and support someone else. I think he will feel the need to run himself. In which case, the same 80 million Americans who voted against him this time will show up for the Dems again. And that will be hard for the Reps top overcome.
If the virus is under some kind of control and economy is growing again (both of which I fully expect) by 2023. then Trump and the Reps have no chance.

He already has/had no chance. Urban areas with 105% of population voting, and 100% for the Dem; republicans will never win again. I’m ready to enjoy my utopia of Dem rule.
I can work longer for less, yippie. That’s assuming there will be jobs in 10 years that aren’t serving the master class in DC.
I was just reading a great article about Biden’s plan to curtail social security payments to people that actually saved for retirement. That’s FKN awesome. And I blame YOU and everyone that voted like you.

I agree Trump can't win, but the GOP certainly can. Most Americans do not support open borders, abandoning the quest for energy independence, racial and gender equity(quotas) or many of the proposals to deal with the climate. Biden nor Harris are good candidates. Trump beat Trump not because of his policies, but because he is a loudmouthed, insufferable, narcissistic jerk. Hopefully, he will move aside and stay in the background. I doubt it. He is a very transactional man. He'll maybe throw his support to someone in exchange for putting Ivanka or Donnie on the ticket. It will be an interesting 3+ yrs until Nov 2024.

He won't move aside...well, not as a team player, anyhow. Zero chance, none.
He's what shrinks consider a malignant narcissist, which means he's an extreme narcissist, a sociopath, he's paranoid, and he's got what's called "idiosyncratic aggression", which is a fancy way of saying a pathological need to square up with anyone he perceives who has wronged him...which, owing to the first three traits, is pretty much anyone who has crossed his path.
That's pretty much Bad Guy Bingo, if you're keeping score. And that means there's about zero chance he'll move aside for the greater good of anyone because he simply could care less about any of that noise.
His niece Mary - a psychologist - does have an interesting theory, though. She does think he won't be put in a position where he could be beaten again. So if you go on the assumption that his overweaning interest is actually his bottomless thirst for attention and control, bringing attention to Brand Trump, and of course, monetizing that brand, it'll be interesting to see what he actually does do.
So I think he ultimately doesn't run unless the winds have really shifted and somehow favor him again. I think he makes a big production of campaigning, mind, complete with MAGA rallies throughout 2022 and 2023 and raises (and makes!) a bunch of money...and then picks some petty intramural fight within the GOP, and then publicly drops out late over "the fact that some people just won't get behind us and do what's gotta be done to save this great nation of ours" (I can hear that fake regret in his voice already). Which of course will leave get the GOP holding the bag with some weak replacement candidate the MAGA crowd won't back who will get absolutely creamed, and in turn show the GOP they are absolutely nothing without their One and Only Star, King Donald.
That seems like the way Donald would roll, because ultimately, nothing is bigger than Donald, and he certainly doesn't give two sh!ts about the Republican Party and I don't nearly think he's done effing it up yet.
