Discussions that ACC strength doesnt matter and that we would be in NC talk with 1 loss or less?
Still feel the same way now?

However, I was all for a move to the B12. Going forward, with a 4 team playoff, an undefeated ACC team will make it unless there are 4 other undefeated teams, then it would be a toss up.

Should a 1 loss Clemson team not be? I sure would hope an undefeated ACC team would be in "the talk". You would think that would be a shoe in but not with the shltty conference we're in.

even play for an ACC title, so why would we be in the conversation?
Hypothetically though, if FSU drops another one, we're still not in the conversation. This year, at least right now, there are not many, if any, 1 loss teams in the conversation because you still have Bama, UF, Oregon, Oregon St., K-State who are undefeated. All 1-loss teams are outside looking in at the moment.

All of those teams could lose one, fsu lose another and we still wouldn't sniff the top 5. That's the point.

How is arguing we should have left the ACC = wanting to drop the program?

Top 10 mid way = in the championship hunt.
A 1 loss KSU would be in the top 10 right now and still in the hunt. We are barely in the top 20.

Just b/c coots believe that also, it doesn't make you a coot. I'm sure not a coot, and I believe we are stuck in a very not a FB conference. That makes the acc a down fall for a FB school that Clemson is.

Just saying vt needs to step up miami can without the ncaa killing them fsu and clemson need to be each others only loss for the acc to be where it can be. Unc looks ok an gt once they get a real O that gets talent they can be a top 25 team.

We will be fine in the ACC, look at WV. Playing in different time zones and traveling to texas every other week is killing them. With ND coming in to help w/ strength of sched. the ACC will be fine when the playoffs come around.
This espn pushing the sec and etc is really getting to you guys. lol

ND does not help our SOS one bit. They are not an acc FB product, and they will never give up all their own TV money to become part of the acc in FB.

It has less to do with 'expansion talk' and more about how CLEMSON is failing to destroy anyone we play. We had the chance - at HOME - to absolutely destroy a mediocre VT team. And we DID NOT! Great teams would have destroyed VT, and the game would have been over before the half. VT sucks this year. If you actually think I'm wrong, just look at their pathetic 4-4 record. Their signature win I guess is beating DUKE in a come-from-20-behind-victory. Freaking WOW! VT sucks. PERIOD. We struggled with VT for a long time. Do you really want our name mentioned in any NC talks???? I sure as heck don't. I think we're overrated anytime we get higher than #15 in the polls. We are NOT that good.
If you want an example of 'destroy' - look at what KSU did to WVU. That's what I'm talking about. Be thankful we did not have to play KSU. We would probably be rated #40 right now.

2 points.
1. BCS doesn't take margin of victory into consideration. 2. You just made my point by talking about how VT sucks and them beating DUKE who LEADS THEIR DIVISION!!
Any other excuses that hold no weight?

Polls (which might have a human margin of victory consideration) have us ranked higher.

As it stands right now we won't even be considered with a conference crown. We wouldn't even sniff the top 5. We would need several teams to have 2 losses. This conference is cramping our style big time.

I agree that the conference is bad as far as football goes
Oct 22, 2012, 12:14 AM

but Clemson is no national title contender. If the ACC is so bad and Clemson was a contender, we would have no trouble controlling our own destiny. That is not the case.
If your suggesting simply switching conferences would solve our problem, I'd have to say there is more to it than that. There are probably a plethora of other factors that would benefit this program as far a football goes. I've always believed that if we could just take JUCO players like a Nick Fairly (sp?), we could really do something special here, especially this year.
We've recruited a great deal of talent but we haven't recruited well enough on D lately to take this team to the next level. If we hang on to our commits, get M. Adams, M. Alexander, T. Crowder, and maybe a few others, there would be no reason why this program could not dominate this conference and thus propel us into NC discussion.
Would being in a more challenging conference make these commits more likely to play for our tigers, maybe. But I think that is much less of a factor than many think.
