Just say it the way it is they quit. Example is Kyle kennard is opting out of bowl game for South Carolina yet he received NIL money. If you are going to get money you should have to provide the return on investment

Amen. Quitting is quitting. At some point the asylum will have to be wrenched from the hands of the inmates.

He’s “opting” out to protect his body for his NFL career. I see this as nothing but a ME over WE mentality. You rode with these guys all year, won defensive player of the year, and helped turn your program around, but since you didn’t make the playoff this game doesn’t matter so you bail on your “boys”. It’s QUITTING plain and simple no matter what “team” you are on.

Even if they said sit out it sounds better.
What makes it worse now is they are getting paid yet aren’t finishing the season

Lol, y’all just can’t see it from a different perspective
Any player can end up like Marcus Latimore or Jordan Travis
Think about it. And think about others

If it’s an independence bowl I don’t care and why should anybody?
Y’all take this too personal and serious.
I’m taking the millions of dollars if my team is on the same page with me.
Y’all think the teammates of the players don’t understand
Get over yourselves, it’s not your life decision

They’re probably pissed at him. They won six straight to show the committee they were a playoff team. They got the first bowl out. Still a great bowl for them. Why not ride with your team one last game and try to score 80 points and prevent the other team from scoring to stick it to the committee. Thats what I’d do if I were him.

You say “why not” as if there’s not big a** elephant right in front of your face
I mean even Clemson players do it. It’s not a matter of right or wrong anymore.
The coaches often times will even advise this. If the postseason game is not going to mean something relatively significant for the certain program, then whatever

A coach may come out and speak on behalf of a player who has chosen to quit, but what coach have you ever heard say or suggest a post game - any post game - doesn't mean something?

If they’re getting paid, NIL or otherwise they should be playing, but it all depends on the contract drawn up and if the college guys are required to play to earn $$$. If I was giving NIL I’d sure want to have playing time tied to it but I’m not a rich guy with money to burn like that.
Let’s compare it to the NFL where guys get paid too. Should Brock Bowers on the Raiders say I’m hanging it up for the rest of the year bc the Raiders are hot garbage with no shot of the playoffs? Why should he risk injury in games that don’t matter? It sounds stupid because it is. With college guys getting checks now the whole injury argument and quitting/opting out should be a thing of the past IMO.

Totally agree. System is a disaster. How long will universities not ask for more back for all the money they spending. Doesn’t even make sense.

NCAA opened up Pandora's Box. Collectives rushed in and started throwing money around like it was candy.
In a short time, those people throwing around the money will start demanding more in return for their investment.

It’s coming up close to a decade since Christian McCaffrey and Leonard Fournette set into motion opting out of non playoff bowl games and there are still guys like you who whine about it ad nauseam. Ugh. Do you honestly think crying about it all these years later will change anything? As for ROI, I think Kennard being top 10 in sacks in the nation this year covers that. He massively improved uscjr’s defense helping them to one of their best seasons in years. Opting out when you have high draft stock and aren’t in the playoffs is the new reality regardless of how anyone feels about it.

and rumored bottom...Bowlhunter. Heartbroken and lovesick, Bowlhunter said he was moved to tears when he saw Baloney's reply, "SMD", he knew it was Bluffton because "that's Bluffton's goto pickup line and the very same one he used on him", as relayed to me via T-mail late Wednesday evening.

Lol. Now I see why the guys at STS call this place Tardnet. Bunch of geriatric fanboys tripping over themselves to defend every move Dabo makes like they get paid to do so. Sigh. One of the most lamentable things about the modern world is the unfortunate uptick of life expectancy for the general public.

Although a player “opts out”, it doesn’t mean I have to support it. Said player got all the goodies along with support from his teammates all season, now turns his back on his team. I’m sure that team could use him as he is a good player. What would everyone be saying if the team quit on this particular player(banned from facilities) immediately?

I have no prob with it if they aren't of the playoffs and they are turning pro. I think it's a good call actually.

It is up to the NIL provider to ensure playing in all games to include a bowl game is in the contract. I don't blame anyone of that caliber opting out of a bowl game. Bowl games mean nothing anymore unless they are playoff affiliated.

are equally awful results of the current system. It's the NFL-ization of CFB.

Yeah, but the 12 team playoff makes it was better. It's tough not everyone gets a trophy, but the new system is already better.

We need to scrap bowl games. They’re useless and of no value now. Things have changed. The playoff will expand to 16. No bowl games needed.
