10 years of service… which gift do I choose?

Aug 17, 2022, 1:54 PM

I know they are patronizing me w some silly gift for 10 years of my life but on the other hand I want a gift so have to choose one. Pic of options attached.

All of them are still rolling.

2025 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Much like the same reason you bought that 2500 diesel

Aug 17, 2022, 2:43 PM

that could tow like 18k pounds for a 7500 pound boat, isn't there some value just in knowing you COULD?

2025 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There was I guess.

Aug 17, 2022, 2:55 PM

Point of clarification: I towed a much larger, much heavier Grady White with the 2500 and the 3500--that boat needed it.

Then I sold the 3500 when I realized I could 1) get out of it exactly what I paid for it) and 2)tow what I had with just about anything, and get literally twice the gas mileage doing it.

I get it. But at some point I gotta draw the line. Sure..I could buy all Snap On or Mac tools, but I haven't had craftsmen or crescent tools fail me yet. As for boats, I've had my Sea Hunt longer than any boat I've ever owned, and if you want to get laughed at, tell the tournament guys you have a Sea Hunt. (and really, I'm pretty happy I didn't buy that Pathfinder now, with all teh failing stringer stories I'm seeing). Even with houses, I've gotten to the point of not even caring about it. If my wife ever decided she had enough of my crap, I'd prob just move into an RV or a condo somewhere.

Maybe my old age is mellowing me even deeper into the world of "who gives a chit".

Re: The best thing about 10 years is I get 3 weeks vacation.

Aug 17, 2022, 8:29 PM

Don’t even have to live in Europe to take advantage…I’ve worked for a European company the past 8 years and it has been awesome…even us lowly American employees get 4 weeks PTO plus a four paid week sabbatical every ten years…I somehow have to figure out how to use almost 10 weeks of combined PTO/sabbatical time in 2024. Highly recommend if any of you get a chance.

I haven't done anything crazy with the drill or impact driver, but I had to help a buddy cut some iron railings off his porch last December. I used the hackzall and made really short work of things. He used the oscillating multitool with great success too. The blades we used that night were mid grade, Id say.
