They not even worried about us. All they talking about is the Alabama and Texas games. One started talking about UGA having so much more talent than us because of the guaranteed NIL deals Kirby is making. As sickening as it is, I think they may be right. Dabo is going to have to start recruiting using NIL. No real portal use and no guaranteed NIL in recruiting is going to kill our program.

Me too. I fear the long term is just as they predict. NIL has changed the game. For the life of me, I can't figure out why Dabo does not recruit with NIL like EVERY major program is doing.

UGAY may have a lot more talent on hand than we do, but our starting 22 is as good as the 22 they will start. Riley has played them at their best with a lesser team with a lot less talent than what he will line up against them with on 8/31/2024. If Garrett Riley is the OC that most believe him to be, his game plan for his Clemson offense should keep the game close, and our Clemson teams have been noted as a 4th quarter team especially when we go into the 4th quarter down by 7 to 10 points is when our guys will usually put on their big boy pants!!!

1. You are delusional if you think Clemson's starting 22 are on par with UGA's.
2. The last time Riley coordinated a game plan against a Kirby Smart defense, he was a broken coverage away from getting beaten 65-0 in the biggest game of his career. That happened with a first round WR and Heisman finalist QB. I'm not sure that's less talent than he has now.
3. I'm not suggesting UGA is going to put a TCU or FSU or Oregon type beating on Clemson. I am saying that the 13 (or so) point spread on this one seems reasonable, given where those teams are right now.

This is actually true based on star ratings. In fact, Clemson starting 22 is 0.940 avg vs 0.937 for UGA. Clemson has better DL, OL, QB, TE, WR and UGA better at DB, LB, RB. Now, how they play and certainly the 2 Deep matters.
The real separation in star rating happens in FR and SO for UGA over Clemson and in materializing the talent (see WR, OL, QB) for Clemson last year.

We haven’t had open opportunities to recruit NIL because we filled our slots recruiting.
Give us some time and money, and we’ll use it properly!
Don’t listen to the super smart media who are pushing a narrative that doesn’t fit every team the same period!

83% graduate across college football. I'd say that's an indication of caring.
Not all that don't graduate don't care.
So what you think, 9/10 DO care?

No one cares about graduation rate, including you. You use it because it's what you've got. If Clemson beats UGA, that's what you'll boast about. If the Tigers lose, you'll toss up speeding tickets and low graduation rates.

That’s what Dabo has drilled into these fans that think he can do no wrong and no one can dare question him. Clemson could lose 4-5 games every season and they will pump their fists for him yelling about graduation rates and how he does things the “right way”. Evidently, he’s paid over 11 million to increase Clemson’s athlete graduation rates and ignore the NIL, the transfer portal, and hire his former players to the coaching staff.

Of course that's what the schools should be doing. I'm just saying fans don't care nearly as much as some would want you to think they do. Dabo's players have a high graduation rate and everyone agrees that is great. But Dabo knows what he's paid 11.3 million per year t do. It's to win games - lots of them and big ones.

At the end of the day, coaches are judged on one thing - their record. Period. In 2024, the end justifies plenty of means. Dabo could have a 100% grad rate and a team full of model citizens. Add 3-4 losses to that scenario and he feels the heat.

Dabo will not just sit there and watch his program die, and when push comes to shove he will find a way to get the money in his NIL jar, bank on it, but I'm sure he is silently praying for Clemson to get out of the ACC regardless of how much he has talked the ACC up over the years. A man who has gotten our FB program to heights he has taken it, he's not going to stand silently by and watch it rot on the vine, it ain't going to happen today, tomorrow, next week or any other time. Our FB program will always be in great shape in the hands of Dabo Swinney!!!

Dabo has gone after portal players and uses NIL but to be successful will have to change his NIL philosophy. He isn't going to pay a player in the portal much money just to come. He rather use his NIL money to compensate the players on the roster.

I do not believe we should be playing professional teams like UGa which do not represent college students in any manner. Like Florida under Urban Meyer, their roster is filled with active criminals. Why not just play the Atlanta Falcons?

They sound like the Coots when they had Spurrier. Overconfident and ready to fall.
Georgia will eventually fall, and it could start in a little over 5 weeks. They are ripe like we were 3 years ago.
The media will never give Clemson a chance bc they have money on UGA, but we will be in it.
I’m not worried about them not being worried.

Kirby can’t make nil deals. He can’t recommend them. He can’t even set a date for players to meet with the collective. Man, I guess no one understands nil. It’s deals between advertisers and players. Coaches can’t veto them, they can’t promise them. Go read the ncaa rules on nil. No college or coach is writing checks to players. NIL collectives are third party entities with no direct ties to the university. They facilitate deals between DJ and BoJangles. They also collect donations from fans to put together NIL deals for kids. Coaches and universities cannot have any say in those deals. In august some changes are coming. Coaches will be able to setup meetings off campus between players and collectives.
As far as your main point, I ran into some Georgia fans at a college baseball game and they also felt unconcerned about us. I remember being that arrogant during our run of dominance. I didn’t fear Alabama or any school. Especially one that was 9-4 the previous year.

You are spot on here, Jedi. Everyone who says Clemson can’t or won’t play the NIL game with the other big schools conveniently forgets DJ on the Dr. Pepper commercial which was one of the first national advertising deals that I saw after the NIL rule changes. Problem is the paw has lost some of its national appeal since then. We haven’t won the big games or had the big face on the program and that is what brings those types of advertisers to the table. This is what Dabo means when he says you have to earn the NIL opportunities. We aren’t going to see Clemson players on that type of stage until we get back into the national championship conversation. One could easily argue that DJ didn’t earn that deal at all, but everyone that saw DW4 and TL16 believed that DJ was going to be next in the string of great QBs at Clemson and Dr Pepper jumped on the bandwagon. Then DJ, and so far Cade, have not lived up to the standards set by their predecessors. That’s just how it works. If we get back on top, the biggest NIL deals will follow. Right now GA has that in their corner.

NIL is nuts now...
Texas Tech just paid $1 million to take a softball player from Stanford....Softball yet!...she is college's best pitcher and has led Stanford to two consecutive world series...

The analogy regarding 22 v 22 rings from years ago when the dogs came to Clemson.
The dogs had the superior team overall and their backups matched their starters
But Little Ole Clemson ended up beating them and it will happen again

This is my point. We climbed the mountain. Let's not get back to being "little ole underdog Clemson". Let's stay on top of the mountain.

When you say "big donors", do you mean like

tall? Fat? Both? If so, just how large were they?
Or do you mean they donate a lot of money? How many of these guys are "big", and how much do they donate? Did everyone have a name tag with donation levels displayed?
Who picked up the tab at lunch?
Also, how is Kirby making NIL deals? My understanding is that coaches can't play players directly. Any truth to this?

Any coach with any sense controls their NIL. They all have box seats, so they give enough. Their company has NIL deals.

This is exactly what I'm expecting of their fan base for our game - hopeful that mentality bleeds over to the team as well.

Many of the schools in the top 10 are not merely accessing the TP to supplement portal outturn nor are they neglecting HS recruiting & abusing the portal to the point of inducing portal dependency(forced into annual roster flip via the portal). They are improving the talent of the top 22 players on the roster.

What about the small donors? Are they afraid of the Tigers?
