Is this just speculation or is this something the university is saying? I love seeing the floats every year, sucks that we're getting all this bad weather the week of homecoming

I don't understand why they don't just leave them up. Buy some cheap ground anchors and let it ride. I will be sad if I don't get to see them this year.

I am thinking liability. There are going to be some pretty strong wind gusts. Don’t want to see a person injured or property damaged from flying debris. I hate it because I love seeing the displays. I also hate it for the current students because working on the displays after Tigerama was always so much fun.

the telephone poles that hold the floats up will not go

anywhere. The chicken wire would probably also remain put if the fratties secured it properly to the poles. .

The toilet paper would be everywhere.

This storm is putting a damper on homecoming, 1st w/ postponing Tigerama & now w/ the floats/displays having to come down. Know the priority is safety, but know that's 1 of things everyone looks to w/ homecoming.

Hopefully the fan base will still show up Sat night ready to give Stanford h***.

The university person in charge told the participants that the displays would probably not come down until middle of next week due to weather.

Why anyone would think that the university would allow/force the demolition of displays by students in the same inclement weather that prevented the usual schedule of finishing them...it doesn't make a bit of sense does it?
