I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that this loss will linger more than most. With all the records this team set this year as well as the hype & optimism coming into this tournament. This loss is even harder to take than our normal disappointments. Hell, some analysts had us in the final four & championship game. But, this complete bust of a game may just accomplish one thing. I don’t think Brownell will ever win the majority of this fan base back again unless he pulls off a miracle somehow & wins it all some day. And, that ain’t happening.

He will win next year against the same woeful ACC and people will fall for the trick once again only to be humiliated again at years end. Think about how truly awful the ACC was now in hindsight knowing what we know now . We would have finished below USUCK in the SEC !!!!

It hasn’t even been six hours.
I know the ACC is historically bad, but this is STILL the winningest Clemson men’s basketball team in history.

There’s no way next year team will be close to this team. I truly believe this might be the final straw. I think a large percentage, maybe even most, fans will never come back to Brownell. That doesn’t mean they will stop supporting Clemson. They just won’t fall for any hype again.

You think we will ever win a college basketball championship? No...our pedigree is football and baseball....any success in basketball is a plus.

I'd put soccer ahead of baseball if we are talking pedigree. However, you are correct that basketball takes a backseat to those for sure.

Strong history of success, even without the national championship.
We rank 12th in the country in # of CWS appearances. There are over 300 programs in D1.

It's more than that. It's not just about money. Many schools may be offering something similar. It's not just about money. It's all about the school, coaches, and the situation of the program.

Wrong. Real fans watched the interviews of our players in the locker room and feel for them and their devastation. There is no answer for the difference between the 1st half and the 2nd. Three's in the first half were 1-15 for 6.7% and the same guys shot the same shots in the 2nd half for a blistering 8-15 for 53.3%. No excuses, no blame, this one hurts but is was a record setting year.

hate what happened today. Every true Tiger fan does. Took me back to when my kids played high school sports. I finally learned and realized that as much as I hated my child’s team lose a game, my child and his/her teammates and coaches hated it more. That being said, I think we saw a basketball freak today. How can a top 10 team, that was good enough to beat Duke, score only 13 points in a half? This has got to be a tournament record. Anyway, GO TIGERS! I still love you.

The one comment was still a fan but won't fall for the hype. What the #### does that mean? It's a sport from the team you love, not a movie or a concert. And we lost by 2 points, not 20. I'm calling y'all out as not fans but followers.

I think the ramifications will hit the transfer portal the most. Last years elite 8 and if we had some sweet 16 or better this year - then the better level of talent considers us. Now, this talent probably rethinks. Players at smaller schools want to potentially win it all, not beat up on a crummy ACC. They would question if we can.

You don’t get it. It’s not losing alone. It’s the way they lost that matters. Looking completely unprepared & lost. More turnovers in first half than field goals. Brownell being completely out classed in the coaching department. No first half adjustments. Not every loss is equal.

Time to face reality. Just a little bit of "success" and a lot of mediocrity are enough for Graham Neff and the Brownell fangirls. Neff should have pulled the plug 2 years ago, but he thinks it's all great.
