The Tigers coming down the Hill in 78

Here you go. A little nostalgia .The Tigers "charging" down the Hill at the SC game in 78 .I hadn't thought about the entrance being changed with the players loping down the hill in 2's till it was talked about here .I took notice of them skipping down the Hill Saturday and I pointed it out to my brother. No biggie I guess .The Tigers are 6 and 0! Life is good!

I am pretty sure that was the usuck game. The Tiger wore overalls and during warm ups he had a tote sack full of chicken scratch and walked through the coots throwing scratch at their feet. I also remember at the Wake Forest game one year he went out on their field and picked up their homecoming queen and ran off with her. You don't see good antics like those any more.

that was an awesome day...for the unofficial ACC championship. Maryland won the official championship because we were on probation but we beat Boomer and the Terps 52-27!

Warren Ratchford (#2) and Jeff Soowal (#52) leading the way. They used to call Ratchford Little Rat; he was small but fast.

And players stayed at mid field until the last player ran down the hill. They were pumped every game. Now they run down and go straight to the bench. I miss the players at mid field.

That was the 2nd or 3rd Clemson football game my Dad took me to see when I was a kid. It was my first Clemson vs USuC game I attended and boy was I excited - couldn't sleep the night before the game. I remember on the drive in along US76 there were about 15 dead chickens (real ones) hanging by their broken necks from the train trestle. That game was the first time I heard the "cock-a-doodle do" cheer. Boy do I miss having my Dad around for Clemson football games - he would be so happy with what Dabo has done with the program and where we are in the National football picture.

Even if we weren’t exactly a perennial national power yet, that was still a great time to watch Clemson Tiger Football (or listen to Jim Phillips call the game on the radio if you didn’t have tickets because the games usually weren’t on TV).
I love the orange wall with the yard numbers. Again, Death Valley has been greatly updated and improved in 39 years... but it was a great place even then.

I was on the Hill at 10 yrs old watching a liter of JD get passed all around. Good times. 41-23 Tiger Chicken whipping....the "#### a doodle Doo" cheer was going on all game long. I had a shirt with that cheer on it that my elem. school principal made me turn inside out at Bradley Elem. School in Columbia. My mom, who got my clothes out for me, was a Tiger fan too, lol.

Line perpendicular to the hill. In the 80's , they started the tradition of staying in the last pregame position until it was time, then marched toward the hill playing " orange bowl march". Once that song was done, the cannon fired simultaneously when the band hit their final tunnel position and tiger rag started. Also, the band started a slant in the tunnel formation, which wasn't there back in this video, slanting towards clemson sidelines because too many football players stared cutting the corner and knocking out band members!
