I want you to know I am very sorry to hear about the Watkins news. I am a Gamecock fan .... 51 years old .... and root hard for my team. However, I recognize these are two institutions of Higher Education and that CU is a strong academic institution .... As for Young Sammy Watkins, I truly hope (and believe) he will learn from this and grow .... I enjoy watching him play and his love and dedication for the game is obvious. Thus, know this Gamecock Fan does not delight in this news and hopes for nothing but the best for young Mr. Watkins. I will root for my Gamecocks but I root for all of the young men/women individually on both sides of the rivalry ....

it saddens me as a gamecock that i actually pull for a guy that plays for my rivals. sammy is a good kid and a class act, and he is a kind of guy that thinks he disappointed his fans and that will serve as motivation for mr. watkins. a scary thought for us opposing fans.

The poster self-identifies as a Gamecock, not to mention his handle, expressed support for Sammy and for Clemson, and you see the need to inject this? I suspect I would rather see "Gamecock Disciple" in the stands at DV than you. It is not always, always, always, about us vs. them. You need some perspective, man.

Great upstanding kid who had a run of terrible luck. I hope that he is fully healthy and 100% this season and in his future. He's a first rounf NFL pick for sure and he deserves it.
We might be rivals, but that doesn't mean we can't show respect for one another.

ok this is a lil messed up. This person comes on here in hostile territory and sympathizes with you guys.
why must you insult him? why must the two posters that called him a coot, do it at this point in time?
I am a Gamecock fan and feel bad for Mr. Watkins and hope he will learn from it and put it behind him.
I saw a fellow Gamecock fan get insulted for no reason and had to give my two cents on it. I am sure I will be bashed by this site because that is all it seems it can do to Gamecock fans. I know both sides have delusional idiotic fans that we would love to see go.
I hope both of these student athletes learn from this and don't become a Garcia.

I have seen these kind of incidents as real turning points for lots of student athletes. Watkins has been a class act and seems to be a fine young man. Some adversity right now may be just what he needs. He has a bright future (on or off the field) if he pulls himself together. A little soul searching and focus will be good for him. He'll end up doing the right thing. This should not be a USC v CU thing. I'm a Gamecock fan, but most of us (like the CU fans) pull for the individual athletes regardless of school. (Many of us were pulling for Spiller to be a Heisman finalist and many of you are fond of Lattimore). I guess my point is that all of us should pull and pray for this young man right now so that he heads down the right path.
