to make Scar a top job in college football ???
Let's face it, the old fart has just a handful of seasons left ... he already walks like he's 85.
When the job opens, what type of candidate can they draw? Which SEC jobs are better? I would say:
1. Bama 2. LSU 3. Florida 4. Georgia 5. Auburn 6. TAMU 7. Tenn 8. Scar 9. Ole Miss 10. Kentucky 11. Mizzou 12. Miss State 13. Arky 14. Vandy

They're 8 or 9 at worst.
But I think other than that your list is fair.

That's a pretty good list. Probably have Mississippi lower and Arkansas higher. Ark (and LSU) have no instate rivals to speak of. Crucial advantage for Ark. Imagine every high school player in SC identifying with one state school. Be a helluva team...
I think we are a better situation than Tennessee currently, though. They haven't been to a bowl since Kiffin was coaching them. High school football isn't big in Tenn. They used to poach the best players in SC, GA, AL, etc. But that's harder to do when you're not any good. I do realize we lost to them last year.

Tennessee job has great potential and easy to recruit there

But having Bama as a cross division rival every year would not make it more attractive

Spurrier done something none of USucks other coaches could do and thats win. The State of South Carolina produces a lot of talent. And is a nice place with good weather with great vacation spots. Coaches would look at all that stuff. Spurrier has helped make it a better job. Still not in top 5 of SEC top jobs but about 6 or 7. RIght now Clemson or South Carolina will be top jobs if vacated. But as for South Carolina. That vacancy will be filled before Spurrier Retires. His son or there OL coach will have that job.

The ol sac looks to be positioning himself for bumping up his SC State retirement and sucking of the state of SC's teat during his retirement years. As the state's retirement system looks at your last 3 years of salary for calculating retirement pay, I find it interesting that his salary for this year increased by dramatically by $650,000 over last year's. Of course we all know they make considerable more than the base salary in real life, but for retirement purposes, it is possible that he is being positioned to be able to draw considerably more in state retirement than he would have normally been under his previous pay scale. 2013 - $350,000 (15 years of service is about $96k/yr) 2014 - $1,050,000.00 (15 years of service is about 273k/yr)
If they are able to "arrange" to buy years of service to get to full retirement of 28 years, his retirement pay would be about 510k/year.

made by the university will be attractive to a number of top quality coaches, just as they would be to Clemson.
Although many on TNet pan Columbia, thousands of Clemson alumni and fans live in the area and like it for many reasons, most of which have nothing to do with the Gamecocks. A number of coaches would enjoy its location halfway between the mountains and coast in addition to the amenities the city offers, one of the best being Lake Murray where I've lived for 30+ years.
Additionally, salaries offered by both Clemson and South Carolina aren't chicken feed (no pun intended...maybe,) and that'll attract top coaches.
Lastly, if all else fails, there's always that membership in Augusta National...plus, a whole lot of folks in the area who love the suds. All South Carolina has to do is find that quality coach who loves beer, golf, the mountains and beach along with mega-bucks, and presto: they've got a willing partner in Chickenland! lol
