Except the Grand Strand seems to have a lot of Clemson fans. Charleston too, but still more SC fans. Even Spartanburg is close to have and half. Percentage wise for Clemson fans is Anderson at at least 90%, Greenville at around 75-80%, and Mytle Beach area at about 60%. Of course small upstate towns like Walhalla, Pickens, etc is almost all Clemson but the same can be said for SC towns downstate. I have family in Florence and would guess it's about 70% SC fans.

At least as far as real fans of the two teams. Now there are a ton of bandwagon gcock fans, but they deny it when the coots suck. You will see more IPTAY stickers on cars in the Columbia area than gamecock club stickers. My sister lives in Charleston and she tells me that there are more Clemson fans.

I grew up in Edgefield which is probably 50/50. The same with Aiken and North Augusta.

at least 2/3 Coot. It doesn't feel like it right now because they've gone back into hiding, but a few years ago there was gamecock stuff everywhere.

It depends on the area you are in Charleston. In the city mostly clemson if either; on my block of 14 houses 7 of them have clemson grads. A lot of Georgia, wake, unc, sewanee, furmna. Downtown is more clemson than S Carolina mostly other schools being a high undergrad/graduate degree area. James island is pure coot. Now Summerville, n chuck, Hanahan, goose creek those are all coots but that's not Charleston anyway.

It admit it does seem weird how different towns come down but I grew up in Pee Dee area and Florence was always Gamecock town. Dr. Eddie Floyd, Mark Buyck, Willcox family all big USC boosters, board members, etc. Whereas Sumter "the Gamecock City" was seen as a Clemson town. Sumter had the only ever satellite Clemson campus. The Bynums, Ryans, Billy Fort, JJ Britton all from Sumter were big Clemson people. Cannot speak for Rock Hill's problem.

Newberry is eastern outpost of Tiger territory.

IPTAY membership is large in Newberry for a small county. Big agriculture and forestry tradition contributes to the large number of Clemson fans here. Plus, we like winning.

From Irmo to Newberry. Most of the coot fans that live in the Dutch Fork area are people who moved in from out of the area.

I grew up in RH. York Co. in general has a strong Tiger presence. Until OBC recruiting took hold RH was a Tiger town. Today I would guess 60-40 % Tiger vs. chickens.
It is surprising how many Tiger fans live in the Midlands! Richland/Lexington have a large corp of supporters and graduates.
Go Tigers!

It depends totally on the win/loss record. There are quite a few when they are winning, not so much at the present. What happened to all the flags, etc.

I suspect Xavier Thomas is going to IMG for a few reasons
Nov 29, 2016, 12:27 PM
|
|
1. Better coaching/development 2. More exposure 3. Better Situation and the most underrated is probably 4. To get away from the pressure
Florence is about 75/25 in favor of USCjr. His principal is a USCjr grad, most of his teachers are probably USCjr grads, there is so much pressure and people telling him to go there that it's probably better to get away. I hear his parents have a car wash that USCjr fans bolster in Florence, probably all wearing USCjr and making it known that they're fans and there is nothing wrong with that but you have to think that after a while that has to be annoying.
Timing is interesting after 56-7 that he announces this as he may be cooling on Muschamp's process and doesn't want as big of a backlash if he doesn't go there...
